ParticipantI’d been thinking the past couple of days, since I’ve been researching Dostoyevsky for a project, how much his romantic life kind of resembles Rumplestiltskin’s journey towards Belle. Wife 1 – She was horrible, totally unsupportive, didn’t understand him at all and basically, never loved him. I think, she also had an affair with a younger man, even though she was dying of TB. (Milah). In between wife 1 and wife 2 (his true love), you had the mistress; who like wife 1, didn’t understand him, unsupportive and brought out the worst in him (started gambling). The mistress was also only interested in pursuing her own career and left him quickly for a younger man. ie. the mistress would be Cora, minus the younger man. Then finally, wife 2 comes along and she’s the only one who truly understands him, loves him unconditionally and never stops loving him. And by the time Dostoyevsky got to wife no. 2, he’d been looking for love in all the wrong places. She’s also younger than him but is a perfect match for him. And she brought out the best in him, he stopped gambling and let her handle all the finances and she gave him the things he always wanted, love and a family.
Wow, that’s incredibly interesting; I did not know that about Dostoyesvsky….sigh, that does sound amazingly like Rumbelle.
Ugh, this set is SO perfect:

You know, I’ve never read the book…….and I really should. I, too, love that quote; it’s so profound. It fits Gold so much in every way, but I’m most moved by the last part. I believe in my heart that he was at peace with his death, that he knew he was doing the right thing and that in his sacrifice, his beloved Belle and Bae would live. I believe that he was at peace with himself, he was happy and content; however briefly, he’d had his little family and had experienced the greatest love, both in giving it and receiving it.

ParticipantI loved A Tale of Two Cities. It’s a bit of a difficult book to read because it starts off with a number of unrelated stories that later become connected in a massive way. I would not really consider Rumple the Sidney Carton character, but that quote does fit.
Getting lose in Youtube, you come across songs you forgot existed. One of them, if you’ve listened to country music in the 90’s/00’s, is Diamond Rio’s “I Believe”. Part of the lyrics:
Every now and then
Soft as breath upon my skin
I feel you, come back again
And it’s like, you haven’t beenGone a moment from my side
Like the tears were never cried
Like the hands of time
Were pulling you, and meAnd with all my heart, I’m sure
We’re closer than we ever were
I don’t have to hear or see
I’ve got all the proof I needThere are more than angels watching
Over me.. I believe.. ohh, I believe. We need a Rumple spoiler. Seriously. We all know he’s alive, but the Rumple/Rumbelle fandom as a whole needs some kind of spoiler as to the direction of his character or we’ll all be suffering some kind of anxiety disorder before March. Give is something, please!

ParticipantJosephine, actually, even though I sort of want a spoiler, I don’t really. They already gave us one through TV Line in December and I hated it, so personally I don’t want anything about Rumbelle………it won’t and can’t be good.
I would love to hear about Belle, but it’s hard to give a spoiler about her when she won’t have any screen time beyond her own episode (in my opinion).
As to Gold, I don’t really need to hear about him since I know he’s alive. I don’t trust Adam and Eddy, so I fear for what they will do to him
