Because Pan was never powerless. The final thing he did before Rumple got him was freezing everyone. He still had all his magic and could use it to hurt people. Zelena’s magic was literally ripped away by Regina when that pendant came off.
The Charmings took what they thought was Pan over the townline to where he couldn’t use magic and planned to shoot him in the head. He would have been powerless then.

That wasn’t their plan. Emma didn’t think that was Pan because she suspected something had happened with Pan and Henry. They went to talk with him, not kill him. Emma had a gun because she’s not an idiot.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 10, 2014 at 7:06 pm #268261PriceofMagicParticipantI still think Zelena got what she deserved and that she would have tried something again which would have threatened Storybrooke.

Keeper of FelixMay 10, 2014 at 11:06 pm #268277Marty McFlyParticipantShe always wants to see the good in him and I want that too but Rumple needs to work on dealing with his own issues before he can commit to Belle.
I agree 100% he is a difficult man to love because his first love will always be his child. Bae. and as much as he loves Belle he will never be able to give up on Baelfire. so if he needs to be evil to get him back, so be it
do any of you believe for a second that Gold is stupid enough to leave the dagger lying there on the ground after Regina defeated Zelena? of course he picked it up. that’s when he made the “slight of hand” even though it LOOKED like Regina stopped him killing
zelena
he could have put a spell on that fake dagger to make it LOOK like it’s “controlling” him at the same time that he produced it on the ground.why did he not tell Belle that Regina gave her a fake? well, maybe he thought Belle should forgive Regina or something crazy like that. or maybe he didn’t want anyone to know how the time portal opened
on a side note: to people who believe that Neal will stay dead, Rumple will purposely destroy his own happilyeverafter if he believes that his son will never have one. that’s what I’d do if I was writing for Rumple. I’d have him break the whole world and run into a dark and isolated castle for the rest of ever after

I’ve got to agree with PoM on this one, RG. They thought Pan was controlling the shadow from inside the box. Just watch this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozFUbfl1wKo
And later, Rumple explains that beyond the town line, Pan is powerless to fight back. So, yeah, they planned on killing him… For real world standards it’s of course morally questionable to take the law in your own hands (even without killing someone) but OUAT’s comprehension of a fair trial is non-existing, so in the OUAT universe I don’t see how Rumple’s action with killing Zelena is considered worse than the Charmings’ when they planned on killing Pan. One can argue that Snow when killing Cora and the Charmings when trying to kill Pan and later Rumple when he killed him were acting in self-defense but Rumple murdering Zelena was not and I have to agree with that one. But from an emotional perspective it is understandable since he blames her for his son’s death and she imprisoned and mentally tortured him for about half a year.

Just…squee!
So few words. So MANY feels.
Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing
May 11, 2014 at 5:54 pm #268459SarahParticipant@ Keb O how adorable. I have question that maybe someone has already asked but, do you think that Rumple would still love Belle if she did something evil, selfish, or underhanded. You know would he support her they way she supports him?
May 11, 2014 at 6:02 pm #268460obisgirlParticipantDefine evil? The only time Belle acted out of character is when she was Lacey, she behaved the opposite of Belle. But Rumple still loved her.
May 11, 2014 at 6:17 pm #268463SarahParticipantHe loved her because he wanted Belle back she was a means to an end. But by evil I mean death killing some one to get what she wants or needs. Or leaving someone to die or suffer a fate worse.
May 11, 2014 at 6:19 pm #268464obisgirlParticipantThat’s not Belle. That would be incredibly OOC for her. But for characters like Rumple and Regina, not so much. I think if Belle killed someone, she would have a huge meltdown about it. Bigger than Snow’s reaction after she killed Cora.
