I think Belle is at least partly RESPONSIBLE for his ressurrection and the loss of his son. She has no right to complain he has been through hell because of her.
[adrotate group="5"]May 25, 2014 at 8:05 am #271196obisgirlParticipantOkay Marty, this has been bothering me since last night: how is Belle partially responsible for Neal’s death?
I know she wanted to find Rumple because she believed that she could save him. Her and Neal found a way and then it turned out they were tricked but Zelena.
Belle didn’t realize that at first, nor could she have foreseen what was going to happen but as soon as she found out that Lumiere was lying and what was really going on, she wanted to leave.
And if I remember correctly, Neal was the one who totally ignored the consequences and went ahead and frees his dad. And he wasn’t forced too. Neal made the choice to free Rumple and again, Zelena didn’t have to use magic on him to make it happen.
But bottom line Belle didn’t know what was going to happen and when she found out, she wanted to leave (sane and wise woman).
May 25, 2014 at 8:28 am #271198PriceofMagicParticipantBelle is in no way responsible for Neal’s death. Like obisgirl said, the moment she found out it was all a trick, she wanted to leave. Neal was the one determined to go through with the plan regardless of the consequences, Belle tried to warn Neal not to but he ignored her. Also Neal was much stronger and taller than Belle. Even if she stood right in front of him and tried to physically stop him, with the determined mindset Neal was in, he’d have been easily able to push her aside.

May 25, 2014 at 7:14 pm #271238seamstressParticipantOkay, I would like to clarify by separation, I didn’t mean divorce. By separation, I meant just that – separation.
Oh, I see.
Belle has every right to be angry, and she should be. But again, I agree with PoM. I don’t want Rumbelle to be separated again, except for Rumple sleeping in a different room for a few nights. Instead of breakup, I wish they would sit down and talk. They are married now. I want to see them work things out TOGETHER.
And Marty, Neal was a grown man. Belle wasn’t responsible for him or his decisions.
May 25, 2014 at 7:40 pm #271240obisgirlParticipantI would love it Belle and Rumple work things out together. I do hope however this is handled next season, everything isn’t wrapped up in a “talk” in one scene and its never dealt with again. Â I mean, look at us even — how many pages we’ve had dedicated to this topic? It’s probably close to 5-10 pages now.

I can’t see this happening: but even WORSE than it happening in one convo, would be it happening in a convo off screen. ONCE often does this for the sake of furthering mythology.
I don’t think A and E will do this, but it is a fear I have

I know what you’re saying about off screen conversations. Like how Belle mentioned that she and her father are talking again.
We never saw them reconcile and I highly suspect that Moe wasn’t too happy to start that his daughter was going to marry the Dark One.
My head canon is that Belle fought Moe and for Moe, it came down to what makes Belle happy vs. does he really want to be estranged from his daughter? Probably no. So he gave Belle his blessing.

I completely agree. They’re married now therefore they can’t keep walking out on the other everytime they have an argument. I could see perhaps Belle spending a night at Ruby’s or in her library apartment when she initially finds out about Rumple’s lies just because she’d feel like she needed a little bit of space, but I would expect her to come back the next day and have it out with Rumple. Or Belle may make Rumple sleep on the sofa for a few nights.
I do think we’ll see Belle have it out with Rumple in the privacy of the shop back room for the reason that they can’t use Rumple’s house anymore because it was sold and is no longer available for filming so we probably won’t get to see Rumple sleeping on the sofa.
I think Belle will forgive Rumple. He was blinded by vengeance then was just trying to cover up his actions with more lies rather than outright setting out to deceive Belle. Rumple will have to promise no more lies to Belle, only it will have to be a freely given promise on his part rather than Belle making him promise to her. But this should be a problem that RumBelle work through together.

This isn’t just an “argument” though, that couples have because one half of the pairing didn’t clean out the gutters like he promised. I feel as though what Rumple did is being totally downplayed. He killed someone. And then he lied about it. Again and again. Belle knows he’s killed before but she’s trusting him to be a better man and to rise above. And he failed. He let his desires and his anger rule instead of his better judgement. At what point does Belle become a totally unbelievable character–is it when she keeps forgiving murder? “Oh, honey, I know you were hurting so you went and killed this woman. It’s okay now. I forgive you.” If Rumple honestly doesn’t think there are consequences to magic (I mean..hello. All magic comes with a price but apparently the guy who first told us this HASN’T FIGURED IT OUT YET!!!!) then he’s just going to keep making mistakes. A few night on the couch doesn’t fit the crime, nor one yelling match with Belle. You know what you spend a few nights on the couch for? When you miss your anniversary. Not for murdering someone in hopes of no one finding out.
