I will love RumBelle to the bitter end and I totally get why Rumple did what he did this episode but I must admit that the way he deceived Belle is a bit of a moral dilemma. How will she forgive him or will she ever find out what he did? If she doesn’t, what does that mean for them?
I did like the scene in the shop where he does ask her about her new relationship and she has the rose. Perhaps Rumple did to Will what he did to Gaston? LOL.
I have the feeling that Rumple is going to let Belle “go” because he loves her and wants her to be happy, even if it’s with Will instead of him, and THAT is going to make Belle realise that Rumple loves her and is choosing to put her first.

I will be shocked, utterly shocked if Rumple does something selfless in regard to Belle this season. I know Rumple is capable of being selfless but he’s also capable of being utterly selfish too. But it would be an awfully nice character development for Rumple to realize when that Belle is much happier without him and allow her to move on.
But again, it’s Rumple and I’ve lost a lot of faith in him, so doubtful he would do something so selfless for Belle.

And that’s not going to be easy. Nor will it be easy for Belle to forgive him for betraying, using, and lying to her.
All that has to happen before I can be entirely happy with them together again as a couple. And I acknowledge that in a real world situation, I’d want Belle as far away as possible and our beloved imp locked away for life. But this is a story.
And I love them and I love them together all the same.

Agreed.

Keeper of FelixMarch 16, 2015 at 4:24 pm #298797SlurpeezParticipantWhat if the selfless thing that Rumple does for Belle is letting her just be happy with someone else (e.g. Will)? What if Rumple’s redemption has nothing to do with him “winning” her back, but ultimately, putting her happiness first (even if it doesn’t include him)?

March 16, 2015 at 4:24 pm #298798obisgirlParticipantI don’t want Rumbelle together especially if Rumple is still scheming, lying and manipulating her. Even if they somehow became friends and he was still doing all the things that forced Belle to expel him from Storybrooke, I’d still want to strangle Rumple. Rumple’s just become so toxic for Belle, I just want him to leave her alone altogether.
I don’t really trust Rumple anymore and I don’t think Belle should trust him again either.
March 16, 2015 at 4:30 pm #298801KebParticipantThat’s just it. I believe that Rumple will have to finally put her happiness first. And when he does that, he will get some measure of happiness (it will never be complete without Bae) in return–because I still believe that her happiness includes being chosen by him, to be WITH him and loved by him, and to love him in return.
But still needs to learn how to love and how to be loved, and he’s a long way from that.

March 16, 2015 at 4:57 pm #298804JosephineParticipantI truly think Rumple is going to die at the end of this season. Just a niggling feeling I have. Rumbelle is at the point that they only way to ever get reconciliation is a “grand gesture”. Something massive.
So, what’s left of the B&tB story? Their separation and his “death” and transformation. We’re currently in the separation phase. They’re apart. So we need them to come back together. The problem is they’ve ignored their own characters and their growth and motivations. I can’t see either of them truly getting over their trust issues for a lasting relationship. I do think we’re going to get one last reconciliation and our TLK finally as recompense for the misery they’ve put us through.
So he’s kissed and his curse is shed. However, what is the future of Rumple without his curse? His son is gone, his relationship although there is love is so broken that it’s toxic. And now he’s a mortal. While I might think his struggle is interesting, A&E aren’t into character studies anymore. And so he’s killed off. Tragic ending but they give us a conclusion to our Rumbelle story.
And to bring a baseball metaphor into it since ’tis the season, they have Will waiting in the background as a pinch hitter. He’s been warming up in 4B as Belle’s “boyfriend” and so they have somewhere to go next season if Rumple is gone. He’s now on deck.
Of course I could be completely wrong, but I can’t see any other alternative.

The problem is Rumple already faced his death and his redemption by sacrificing himself to save Belle and Bae. The trouble is that he got resurrected as the Dark One. I guess what’s left is for “the inner Beast” to die for the man to be reborn. But yeah, I’m having a hard time seeing Rumple being set free from his dark one’s curse unless it’s another self-sacrifice to give Belle her happy ending (even if it’s without him). What else could Rumple possibly do to show his redemption? I’m not saying all hope is lost, but how many lies and manipulations must occur before enough is enough? After the first manipulation, Rumple had his window to come clean, but didn’t. He got caught in his tangle of lies, and Belle banished him because of it. Now he’s been lying to her, pretending to be an Oxford linguist and a pirate, to get back into town to get his dagger back. How far is too far before the point of no return?
