I noticed a bit of venom in her voice when she told Gold that Regina had locked her up. I suspect that Belle is not the same person she was before she was imprisoned. I would imagine that being unjustly locked up for at least 28 years (plus however long she was imprisoned in FTL before the curse) would change a person. And while I don’t think she has transformed into evil Belle, she is in the perfect position to become the axis of righteous rage (similar to the Count of Monte Cristo) in the storyline.
I think her imprisonment will make her more willing to let Rumple do what he must (ie: use magic) to find Bae. I too heard that venom in her voice when she told him about Regina and being locked up. I think we can contrast that to when she remembers who she is and tells Rumple that she loves him. Even after being turned out of his castle, being told that she was less important than his power, and being his servant, she still loves him and those are her first words to him after “waking up”.

Gold had better have an unbreakable explanation for insisting the magic had to come first (something along the lines of “if I bring back the magic in the next few minutes I can save August “). Belle’s got a lot to learn before she ‘s ready to join this game. Of couse she can do that –and bring her battle planning experience to the table– but how she feels about her participation, and how she feels about Rumple, will depend on how much he invests in her future over the next few days.
May 19, 2012 at 3:23 pm #147325JosephineParticipantYou’re right, Belle has had a lot happen to her in a very small period of time. What she needs most is a hot bath, a hairbrush, and an lengthy, detailed explanation.
I do wonder how much she’ll actually be a part of Season 2. I know Emilie’s show didn’t get picked up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see her more. But then I think how can they have her with Gold now if she isn’t seen often. I just hope they don’t rip her away from him. A man, even an evil imp, can only take so many knocks before he’s defeated, even if they are at his doing.

Definitely. Belle has become an integral piece in Mr. Gold’s personal puzzle. She’s too improtant to his story to just write out of the show or not address with the proper amount of screentime. So, I’m glad the writers decided to bring Belle back into the main plot in the finale. 😀

I agree. I’m glad the writers recognized Belle’s significance in Rumpel’s story. For a while there, I began to fear that Belle would actually be killed off in the finale. Thank goodness the writers did a complete 180 and brought her back into the fold. Killing her would have been a waste of a good character and a good actress.

I’m also hoping for that. Jefferson as well. 😉
June 17, 2012 at 12:06 pm #148814a_desperate_soulParticipantI’d also love for Belle to become a series regular. But even if it doesn’t happen next season, she’ll still have an important role to play in the overall story. The very fact that she’s romantically connected to Rumpel puts her right in the middle of the plot. 😉

Plus, the writers have already confirmed that Belle’s story will carry over into season 2. And the fact that the season finale left off with Belle standing by Mr. Gold’s side gives me hope that we’ll be seeing a ton of her next season. 😉
