I think maybe I saw the info about Belle coming back for season 2 in a Tweet from Kitsis or Horowitz?? It’s been awhile – I can’t remember. It was right after Skin Deep aired when they were all blown away by how much everyone loved the episode and I think they were waiting to get confirmation on Emilie de Raven’s schedule and contracting and then they announced that she would be back for the season finale and for season 2. For some reason I’m thinking it was a Tweet or a series of Tweets but, like I said, it’s been awhile so I can’t remember. I can try to go back and search for it.
As for the popularity of Belle and Rumple – I think many people found it “strange” that they used Rumple as the Beast in the Beauty and the Beast story initially. But once people saw how it played out I think most people understand why they did it. But, I will say (aside from the fact that I am one of the people that LOVE the two of them together) it does appear that, at least amongst those who get involved on the on-line OUAT sites, the Rumbelle pairing seems to be the most popular so far. Of the episode ratings so far Skin Deep seems to be the most popular by leaps and bounds. There are definately people who don’t like the two of them together – I agree that it seems to be people who want Rumple and Emma together or the people who tend to not like ANY relationships on TV shows (like the ones who can’t stand it when two characters get involved on one of the crime drama shows and refuse to watch anymore). Some of the sites I have seen are oddly obsessive though – Rumbelle porn falls into that category for me anyway. 😕
I guess I fall into the category of people that trust that the writers know what they are doing and as much as I would hate to see them kill off Belle, if they do it I would have to trust it is because they have something better in mind down the road. Sometimes they are also at the mercy of the actors who are cast in a role. Nothing is worse than in the days of the soap opera when a random actor would come on screen and you’d be like “Who the heck is this guy??” and a voice over would say “The part of Steve will now be played by Joe Smith.” That NEVER works, so in that case I would rather have them kill someone off instead of re-casting a role and having to try to pretend that a new actor or actress is someone that they really aren’t. But, short of scheduling difficulties, I do think they tend to look at what the audience likes. And right now with Rumple/Belle being so popular and the series JUST getting started I can’t imagine they would decide to kill off a character that is one half of the most popular coupling on the show. I know they did something like that on LOST before, but if I recall didn’t that actor actually have some kind of health issue he was dealing with in real life?? I didn’t watch LOST but remember everyone being shocked about it.

I’ve seen on quite a few sites where Skin Deep and Rumbelle are winning poll after poll. But hey, I’m not comlaining. I love them too. And I’m glad the writers took a risk with the Beauty and the Beast story. It all worked out in the end.
And I’m glad to hear that Emilie de Raven will be back for season 2. Like I said before, she’s my favorite female character so far.
March 24, 2012 at 4:02 pm #139651hjbauParticipantI just completely disagree that Belle and Rumpel are the most popular pairing on the show. I think that Snow and Charming are. I think that Belle and Rumpel get talked about more because they are the less obvious couple and the people who like them think they need to be defended, but i think that a lot of people watch this show for the Snow and Charming episodes. I just think that no one thinks it is necessary to defend Snow and Charming. And there are people that don’t like Snow and Charming too, but that seems to be a lot less then the people who don’t like Rumpel and Belle. A lot of people seem to either hate Rumpel and Belle or love it. There doesn’t seem to be much in between.
I actually don’t think they are going to kill Belle this season. I think it is more likely to happen down the line somewhere. Though who knows. I don’t consider Rumpel and Belle a main couple though. I think that the Rumpel episodes so far have been filler and could both be pulled from the story and the story would still be complete.
March 24, 2012 at 4:18 pm #139658beauty the beastParticipantSorry, but I still don’t see what you’re talking about. 😆 Everywhere I go all I see are people who are obsessed with Belle and Rumpel. I rarely see any negative opinions about them. Don’t get me wrong, there are negative opinions, but many of them seem to be (like Midnight Dreary stated) people who never liked Rumpel in the first place or people who shipped him with oher people before Belle came onto the scene.
But for the most part, people seem to really like Rumpel and Belle. I think most people expected Skin Deep to be dreadful, but as soon as it aired, everyone was raving about how amazing it was. After visiting numerous web sites, Skin Deep seems to be the most popular episode so far.
March 24, 2012 at 4:22 pm #139659midnight drearyParticipantOk, can we not talk about the fans in the Belle discussion thread? I don’t want any of that shipping business pollutting the thread. Besides, it tends to divide people and we’re all friends here. 😀
March 24, 2012 at 4:28 pm #139660killianhookfanParticipantI agree – I’m afraid if we continue I will accidentally stumble upon Rumbelle porn like I did on another site. Boy was that an eye opener. 😯
March 24, 2012 at 4:28 pm #139661hjbauParticipantWherever i go it seems to be the same people that like Belle and all the people who hated them when Skin Deep first came out have just given up arguing about it. There were a lot of people who hated the paring when the episode came out. I really need to just give it up. And the idea that their pretty much abusive relationship is something that we should all be rooting for is too much for me.
There was a large portion of people who hated Skin Deep when it came out as well, so i just don’t see it. I don’t care if people like it, but a lot more people seem to be interested in the Snow storyline because that is actually the main plot of the show. Like what you want by all means, but i wish that everyone would quit saying that this is the biggest thing that people like about the show. It was one episode and i don’t think that this is what is carrying the show. Especially since it was pretty much filler.
March 24, 2012 at 4:30 pm #139662hjbauParticipantYes, okay. I think we should just talk about Belle.
March 24, 2012 at 4:31 pm #139664midnight drearyParticipant*Facepalm* 🙄 People, no more of this, ok. It doesn’t really matter who’s more popular. Each character and pairing has a large fanbase of their own. It’s no big deal.
March 24, 2012 at 9:39 pm #139699an empty heartParticipantI feel the same way as some of you. Belle has only been in 2 episodes, but she’s already becoming one of my favorite female characters. I really like Emilie de Raven as an actress and Belle was always my favorite Disney princess, so I couldn’t myself. 😆 I can’t wait to see how Mr. Gold handles having Belle back in his life (for better or worse).
And as far as the popularity of Rumpel and Belle, Snow White and Charming are definitely the most popular pairing, but Rumpel and Belle are very close behind. But then again, Snow and Charming had since the beginning of the season to build their fanbase. So the fact that Rumbelle has such a large fanbase after only a month and half really speaks volumes. As someone already stated, I think part of the reason why so many people love Rumpel and Belle is because their love story came as such a shock. No one really expected to see Rumpel actually fall in love and let his guard down. So, when we finally got to see that, many of us fell in love.
