THIS. People keep kidnapping my Belle. I wish she would just stand up and start scratching people’s eyes out or something. 😆

Despite what others may think, I actually think Belle is a very strong young woman. She sacrificed herself to save her village and family from the Ogre Wars. She was brave enough to stand up to Rumpel when he pulled away from her out of fear. And after spending 28 years locked in a tiny room, she was able to control her feelings of hatred for Regina, as well as Rumpel’s. I admire her and think she’s a very strong female character. But due to the lack of screentime she’s received this season, it’s difficult to see that.
You know, I agree. I know some people like to fault Belle for being too weak or not proactive enough. But given the horrible way she’s been treated all her life, of course she’s going to be taken advantage of. But the few times where she has shown strength, it’s been rather striking. Giving up her freedom to secure the freedom of her villagers, trying to help Rumpel reform his dark ways, having faith in Ruby. All of these things should be commended. Not everyone would have the courage to do these things.
I completely agree. Strength can be found in various different outlets. A sword, a bow and arrow, standing up for someone, being loyal to the one you love, defending your friends and family, or sacrificing yourself for the good of others. The last example fits Belle’s perfectly. A lot of people don’t give her credit for giving herself up to Rumpel for her village. It was a very brave and selfless thing to do.

Yes or at least start carrying something that can be used as a weapon to ward off attackers
December 12, 2012 at 11:43 pm #164809marilouParticipantin my humble opinion she already has her weapon. Have you seen those high heel shoes she is wearing all the time? Don’t tell me that could not cause some damage!

Exactly.

I think she was just drowning her sorrows in beer. 😆 It was immediately after she left Rumpel’s castle. So, Regina hadn’t captured her yet.
