One of my anons on Tumblr pointed me to the ONCE IMDB board:

I checked it out. It seems to be something of a pool. The markings etched into it make up real occult and alchemical symbols. The central symbol is a solar one. Immediately encircling it are eight other symbols, and among these are, I believe, a pentacle, a trinity, a world triad, a fire elemental, and an all-seeing eye. Circling these symbols is the outermost one, which is the Ouroboros. What does it all mean? It means that since hardly anyone will figure what it all means, most everyone will feel mystified by it all. That, and the Illuminati is behind OUAT

    Then someone said this:

The Ouroboros has been used to symbolized cyclicality, rebirth, and other concepts.

I can’t figure out why that thing would be in the barn where Bobby was shooting a couple of weeks ago (which my anon pointed out looked to be similar to what we saw with Belle/Neal) and why they would need it ? Why the witch would need it? If it’s portable, maybe Gold brought it there…..hopefully with Belle’s help.

That said, though I REALLY like the idea of the idea of rebirth – especially as pertains to Gold, who if his curse is broken (and it needs to be, IMO) would be reborn to a large degree.  It could be a beautiful thing.  PLUS, Lumiere is involved : candle, warmth, light, heat……..all positive connotations, I think.

Only about 4 of the symbols are actual Alchemical symbols. The others are very loosely based on Alchemical/Tarot Arcana.

The Sun in the center looks like it has a keyhole in the center. I’m thinking it may be a door of some sort. Or a map (like the blastdoor map on LOST)

The Pentagram (or Pentacle) is a protection symbol for Alchemists. Rumple and Victor are Alchemists.
