Better Love Triangles

I’m just gonna say this. We NEED a love triangle. Just not with Enma/Neal/Hook. We need a love triangle that is actually threatening something. Like if Rumpel begins to fall for the witch and Belle is left out in the cold. Or if Snow finds someone more.. Charming. Thats good drama and has more weight than captainswan or swanfire. Naturally, we know that they will of course still end up with who they were with but if they gave us that kind of confliction we would be on the edge of our seats. Am I right? What do you guys think?

I think if you know the couple is going to end up together then it makes the triangle pointless. For example: MM, David Nolan and Kathryn in season 1.

Rumple would never stray from Belle, he’s not that kind of person. He knows he got lucky with Belle, he’s not prepared to risk throwing that away.

If a couple is already proven to be true love, then there is no logical reason for why they should be included in a love triangle, if they truly loved each other then they wouldn’t stray.

I would like to see a love triangle between Archie, Red and Whale.

I hate love triangles in general. They are painful for fans because they are invested in one side (yeah, I’m looking at you CSF).

So it should be a funny one. Used for comic relief.

–JollyFlook: The Jolly Roger, the floor, and Hook. I’m betting this isn’t a triangle so much as a happy poly-amorous relationship. Obviously all three love each other. No drama

–Belle’s teacup (Chip) and the spoon from Skin Deep are madly in love. But what about the sugar bowl? Does it have feelings for the spoon? ChippedSpoonSugar

–Granny, her bow, and the diner. How is a woman to choose?! GranBowFood

–The crows, Regina, and RH. Those crows follow her everywhere. Are they in love with her?! FlyingOutlawQueen

–Regina, her apples, and her crows. Which ones does she value more: her means of poison or her spies? BlackEvilApple

–Rumple, his cane, and the spinner. I mean..I’d watch that. Cane-of-spun-gold

The thing I don’t like about triangles is that there is always one of the “suitors” that you prefer over the other.  So as a viewer you have a 50/50 chance of being either thrilled or annoyed with the outcome of the triangle arc.  And for people like me who tend to be high strung and anxious anyway, dealing with a “is my character going to end up with the person I don’t want him or her to end up with” feeling is extremely insettling.  I’m not one to just flat out say I will stop watching a show if my character ends up with the character I don’t ship but I have had it happen before that when a show goes in a direction that doesn’t really “do it” for me I lose interest and stop watching.  Sometimes that happens with triangles when they don’t go the way I would like.  I try to stay invested in the show but typically for me I ship certain pairing because of a chemistry I happen to feel between the two characters.  Trying to stay invested in the show doesn’t mean I can magically create chemistry between characters when I just don’t feel it – so often a lack of chemistry will be the reason I loose interest.

So, I am CS.  I have many reasons for being CS, one of them is that I personally don’t feel any chemistry between Emma and Neal (but I understand that others do and that is great!).  So if SF happens I won’t stop watching the show – I hope that I will come to feel that Emma and Neal should be together.  But a lot would probably have to happen for me to feel that way due to the total lack of chemistry I currently feel between them.  It cincerns me that I might loose interest in the show as has happened with other shows, although there are enough other stories that are going on that could keep me interested.

But once this “triangle” is over, please help me if we dive into another one!!  I’m all for random obstacles standing in the way of couples getting together, or jndividuals having to overcome personal issues before they can be open to love but vacillating between two people – ugh!!!

Feeling like I need to be sedated before each episode is not necessarily a healthy thing long term.

I disagree. A LOT. Take Cora for example. Had she stayed alive and stayed in SB, she would have been a MAJOR threat to the RumBelle ship. Why? Because she has a relationship with Rump that Belle can never have. A love and obsession with Magic and one of revenge. He even kissed Cora. That’s a love triangle right there. He is caught between someone he would WANT to be with (someone who accepts and loves who he is without change) and someone he NEEDS to be with (someone who wants to change him, but for the better.)

The way I see it going down is Cora would have kissed Rumpel by surprise, and something would happen, a light would appear etc. She would say “See…Its true Love, rumple.” and Belle would appear, shocked and standing at the door. We, as the audience, would just be like WOOOAAAHHHH!!

I feel that way about CS. I don’t see why Emma would want Hook other than a pretty face. Sure they have similar personalities but Hook is no father figure for Henry and he has no way to support Emma in the real world. He is a pirate. Nothing more, nothing less. And that’s what makes there love triangle so… bland? It’s because there is no consequence for her choosing one over the other. Neal is Henry’s father and wil be there no matter what. Hook is just Hook. Emma can chose either one and it wouldn’t make a difference in my opinion.

Snowing would be different. Snow is so great for Charming that for someone to come along and offer her more as a mate, then the story becomes a lot more serious. Idk if I am expressing my thoughts correctly but hopefully you all get it.

Also, putting more important character in love triangles will have effects on other characters. Emma is getting used to having her parents. Imagine if David or Snow actually kind of became interested in another person. Emma and Henry will have to deal with that emotionally. Same thing with Belle if Rump found something better or vice versa. I’m not saying these triangles would last forever but having another competitor for the love of someone is good drama.
