I can’t believe this hasn’t been talked about. The boundary spell Cora used to keep Regina from leaving (she can’t leave unless King Leopold is with her), is that the same boundary spell that was used on Storybrooke? If anyone tried to leave Storybrooke during the curse, something bad would happen (just before they hit the boundary of the town), and now that the curse is broken, the residents still can’t leave. If they do, they loose their fairytale memory.
We know from last season Rumpelstiltskin created the Dark Curse and he knew that if anyone tried to leave, something bad would happen but I still don’t get how he couldn’t know if you tried to leave now that the curse is broken, something bad would still happen?

Rumpel was probably counting on being able to leave when Emma lifted the curse, but I think that there is a new power at play. When Rumpel brought magic to SB, I think the price he paid was being stuck there.

The moment anyone crosses the line and loses the memories, they’re just going to turn round and go home.
All magic comes with a price!

True.
It’s especially confusing after King Leopold’s death, Regina can leave the castle. I guess she could have found a way to break the boundary spell Cora made?
October 12, 2012 at 11:07 pm #156478nonnieParticipantMaybe REGINA added the boundary spell to the curse and since magic is unpredictable here ….. while the curse spell got broken there may have been no effect on the boundary curse.
Gold therefore might have to find a different way to look for Bae…. I wonder if he could use Google?

As for Cora placing the curse on Ragina not letting her leave without King Leopold I think 4 things: 1. Maybe it was only until the wedding, 2. His death 3. Ragina pushed Cora through the looking glass so maybe the curse broke, 4. Ragina became somewhat attached to Snow, even though she blames her for Daniel’s death.October 13, 2012 at 5:42 am #156523PheeParticipant@obisgirl wrote:

It could certainly be a variation of that spell. What we saw with the tree branches wrapping around the person seems to be a specific boundary spell, because we saw Regina do exactly the same thing to Henry that Cora had done to her, but we didn’t see the same thing happen whenever someone tried to leave town.

I think that he was so fixated on leaving to find Bae, that he just didn’t consider this new problem developing. He probably figured that once the spell was broken, that was it, and he’d be free to leave.

Because, say it with me kids, “ALL magic comes with a price.”

Good point!

Once she had her own powers, I’m sure she could have figured out a way around it. But I’m guessing that when Cora disappeared through the looking glass, any spells she’d cast in FTL lost their oomph.

That’s possible but somehow, I don’t think it would be that easy.
