I don’t think they’ll kill Rumple, however I can see this going very Beauty and Beast. Cora stabs him with the dagger, and he starts to die, but Belle–who has slowly come to remember him, trust him, and love him–saves him with True Love’s Kiss.

Writers, for the love of God please don’t kill Rumpel. He’s too awesome to die! ๐ฅ
Personally, my theory is that Cora and Regina raid Mr. Gold’s shop and steal what she thinks is the dagger, but is in fact a fake. Why would Gold keep the dagger in such an obvious place? Last time we saw the dagger it was burried far out into the woods. Rumpel is usually good at hiding things, so there’s no way he would keep is most priced weapon in the shop.
My final judgement: It’s a fake.
I hope so. I know they wouldn’t kill him off at least not this early, so either he’s going to do some kind of fake out, or the ending of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast idea happens. I do think that eventually Disney’s version will happen to Rumple, but I don’t know if it’s too soon.
Of course, he’d still have to atone for everything he’s done even if he’s no longer the Dark One, and it would be interesting to see him having to adjust to not having that power anymore next season. So maybe it’s not too soon after all to have Belle save him like that.
January 22, 2013 at 4:13 am #169559PheeParticipantI’d wondered a while back if Hook would stab Rumple, but with magic being different here, the Dark One Curse wouldn’t transfer and it’d cease to be, and Rumple would live, of course. There is simply no way they would kill off Rumple, he’s far too valuable to the show. I can totally see them scaring everyone into it happening by having him stabbed though. But he’ll be saved, most likely by Belle, though I’d hoped they’d have them being estranged for more than just a couple of eps.
Just yesterday I was wondering if Cora might die in this ep, like they killed off Graham in the ep where they told his back story. Now that we know the dagger is in play, I’m wondering about it even more. Maybe Cora will stab Rumple, and then Regina will stab Cora? I’ve read some speculation that Regina is just playing Cora for some reason, and now that I’m thinking about it…
Perhaps Regina knew she couldn’t beat Cora as things stood, there was simply no way. But The Dark One can be killed, so if Regina played Cora and Rumple off each other to set this scenario up, she could get rid of her mother. Of course, this would mean Regina becoming The Dark One…which could actually be kind of awesome, because it’d show the SBers that she was willing to make a huge personal sacrifice to save them all from Cora, but it wouldn’t instantly completely redeem her.

Great idea to have the Beauty and the Beast story play in like that RumplesGirl. I really hope that happens.
January 22, 2013 at 1:28 pm #169593RumplesGirlKeymasterThe only problem with the Beauty and the Beast idea, like a few people have said, is that it would happen REALLY fast. It would mean that Belle would have to fall back in love with Rumple in about two episodes (since we know Rumple is looking for Bae in at least “Tiny” and “Manhattan”) Plus, if they do it now they could never do it again, because it’s a very emotional thing that I think would only play out once to be effective on the viewers. So I like Phee’s suggestion that maybe because magic is different here the dagger won’t work in the same way.
Also, I’m not sure I like the idea of them killing Cora in this episode. They have so much story to tell: her connection with Rumple and I think they have to tell us more about her time in Wonderland, not to mention where her heart is and how many lands she’s been to and if she made alliances there (she told Hook she has traveled to too many lands to be stopped by Emma/Snow) I can see them taking Cora to the either the penultimate or season finale."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 22, 2013 at 1:47 pm #169595tiara_roseParticipantOK, take his Dark Power, but let Robert Carlyle still play Rumpel. Don’t kill him of. That would brake my heart… ๐ฅ

He’s dangerous, but they’ve already defeated him twice in some way, so unless he got a hold of magic or told the outside world about what was going on, he just doesn’t come across as scary as Cora.

I’d LOVE it if this came true. I just don’t even want to imagine the show without Rumple. ๐ Also, I think most of us have been waiting for that part of the Beauty and the Beast story to play out.

I agree that there’s no real way the writers could kill off Rumple since he’s the lifeline of the show, IMO. I just had horrible flashes of worst-case scenarios.

Yeah, I’ve long had the sense all season that Cora would be the new “big-bad” villain for S2, but once she serves her purpose of trying to corrupt Regina and challenge the status quo with Rumple, Cora probably won’t survive until S3. Sadly, I have a similar sense that Captain Hook will meet his death at the hands of Peter Pan (who won’t feature until S3 at the earliest). I like Colin, and I’d be sad to see him go, but like Graham, I don’t think he’ll last unless they decided to make him Emma’s true love rather than just a love interest. (Since I think that the writers have reserved Nealfire for that special status, I don’t see Hook staying around indefinitely).

Regina as the new dark one – I can’t even imagine how scary that outcome would be! ๐ฎ SB watch out!

January 22, 2013 at 5:25 pm #169602rczParticipantWhat if Cora gives the dagger to Hook ๐ฎ ! He could use it to control Rumple and make him even kill Belle or Bae โ Not that I think that will happen, but imagine how it would be?
January 22, 2013 at 5:48 pm #169603PheeParticipantMaybe Cora wouldn’t need to die just yet. Perhaps, if she stabs Rumple, then she becomes The Dark One, Regina could snatch the dagger, meaning she’d control Cora, and the whole balance of power in their relationship would be totally flipped on its head. That could be fun to watch.
