I think the Dark One curse is meant to die with Rumple. Wasn’t the curse Regina enacted called “The Curse To End All Curses”? They’ve already introduced a way to break it without passing it along by “True Love’s Kiss”. I don’t think they’ll just have someone stab Rumple so the curse is passed along to someone else.
I can see Cora biting it because Barbara Hershey isn’t a regular, but she is a big name. She could still come back for flashbacks like the Huntsman/Graham did.

Was it 😯 😯 When is that said ? I missed it..
I keep thinking that the curse of The Dark One should be stronger then True Loves Kiss.
Or you could say- that it should be impossible for The Dark One to recieve a TrueLoves kiss, because it should be impossible for The Dark One to ‘give’ true love to enyone and therefor impossible for him to ‘resieve’ it, regardless of the fact that someone might be willing to give it to him in the first place.
So in order for the kiss to be recieved by The Dark One, The Dark One’s curse should first be taken of him or be paralysed in some other way.
But perhaps if Reginas curse on Fairytaleland was- ‘The curse to end all curses’ that would be the thing to do just that..I realise that Belle kissing Rumple in -was it Skin Deep- almost looked to be breaking his curse, but then again.. it didn’t. I mean to me being cursed to be THE Dark One is like being cursed to be THE Devil- The one and only. There’s no room for true love there. And Rumple loves Belle and Bae yes, but not unconditionally like you would think true love is unconditional.
I am curious to know how someone controlling The Dark Ones power through the dagger would work ? Would they have total control over Rumples actions and be able to make him kill for instance Belle, like someone suggested, if they wanted to ?
January 22, 2013 at 9:14 pm #169626RumplesGirlKeymasterI think TLK is the only thing that breaks the Dark One’s curse, while keeping the actual Dark One alive, which I think may be the ultimate end game of Rumple and Belle. In Skin Deep when she kisses him, he begins to revert back to a man–his skin changes to its normal white, his voices changes to what we know as Mr Gold’s voice. I’m betting he wouldn’t have his power anymore, he would just be Rumplestiltskin.
There’s no room for true love there. And Rumple loves Belle and Bae yes, but not unconditionally like you would think true love is unconditional.
I very respectfully disagree with you. He did love them both, but it was clouded by the curse and his cowardice. If there is something that describes Rumple’s character it’s not his “evilness” or his ability to manipulate, it’s that he is a coward with a capital C. I think in the very moment he loses Bae he realizes that there is something he loves more than his power; and it’s something Belle recognizes too in Skin Deep when he says “My power means more to me than you” and she instantly replies “No it doesn’t” and then that beautiful moment when as she walks out of his life, Rumple’s eyes close and you know that he knows she is right. He does love her, even if she’s crazy and has no memories, and as far as Bae goes one of the themes of this show I would argue–especially this season–is parental love and who are good at it (Snow/Charming/Emma after a fashion) who are bad at it (Cora) but more importantly people like Regina and Rumple who are good at BUT make really terrible mistakes. Look at the reasons why Rumple became the Dark One. It wasn’t because he really wanted to be evil, it was for his son. He took on a curse he didn’t fully understand because of the love he has for his son. When Rumple thought August was Bae, he begged for his forgiveness, going so far as to give him the dagger, the sign of all his power. To me, Rumple’s undying love for his son is something that drives this show. For all that the curse is Regina’s “happy ending” against Snow and Charming, it’s really Rumple’s way to demonstrate his love for his son. I’ve often wondered if once he finds Bae, if Rumple won’t give up magic, or at least try. While I ultimatly think he won’t give up his power because you need it in a fight against “evil” or whoever is the baddie of the season, I think his desire to be a man again is what’s going to become paramount once he has Bae and Belle. While he is the Dark One and is curse he doesn’t think himself a man (he tells Belle that in Skin Deep) but once he has his son and Belle, I think his heart’s desire will be to be human again, normal even.

How on earth did you come across this one? I’ve seen call sheets from several productions in the past, so I can definitely confirm that if this is fake, it is a very good one!
January 23, 2013 at 4:43 am #169662theeviloneParticipantI don’t know how Call sheets work but it doesn’t even have Robert Carlyle on the actual scene, his number is 3 and I don’t see it there. Does that mean that Rumple won’t be in this fight for power? It seems he should be I mean it is his dagger right ❓

Rumpelstiltskin: A horse? This is the curse to end all curses. You think a horse is going to do?
Guess I’d never looked at that statement literally. I just took it in the sense of, “this is the biggest, baddest, most awesome one of these things you’re ever gonna see”. It did break the Dark One curse, for 28 years, and I daresay it would have stayed broken if Rumple hadn’t have brought back magic. Obviously it’s in effect again in some fashion, or he couldn’t have summoned the Wraith the way he did, but they haven’t really clarified if it still holds its same intensity as before. Magic behaves differently here, so I guess they can make the Dark One curse do whatever best suits their storytelling needs.

.Oh so you believe there is an actual original Dark One living somewhere else pulling the strings on Rumple ?

In your opinion is true love not unconditional then ? or do I misunderstand.
I feel like you are still saying the same thing as me. He loves Belle and Bae, but there is something clouding his love- cowardice, need for power, suspicion…so then it is not true and pure as long as there is something in his way holding him back preventing him from giving and recieving that true love.I still have my doubts that he would just let go of his power if he had both Belle and Bae with him, he didn’t give it up when he had the chance with Bae and the bean-portal. What has changed for him ? When did he have the epiphany that changed his thinking on this ?
*edit: Phee thank you for clearing that up, finding the quote about the curse to end all curses. 😀

No no no no. 🙂 I mean, TLK will break Rumple’s curse (make him not the Dark One anymore) but still keep him alive. The other option for Rumple to no longer be the Dark One is for him to die by the dagger.

True love is unconditional and I do think he loves them unconditionally, but it’s hard for him to show it because of his cowardice. Apologies

Great question. Is Rumple even in town?? This episode takes place so soon after Manhattan that I was surprised Rumple, Emma, and hopefully Nealfire were in SB so quickly.

I think they are because Emma and Neal are on the scene, so I wonder where Mr. Gold is 😕

I think Mr. Gold could be keeping Henry safe from Regina/Cora in an undisclosed place.
