As his mother died, some sort of magical breath SOMETHING happened to little Jafar. Later when the Sultan tried to kill Jafar, Jafar came back to life.
What happened to little Jafar?
Can he die? Is he immortal?

Just like Rumple can die even though he’s immortal. Just need to find out what the correct tool is that will kill him.

December 5, 2013 at 9:38 pm #228305RumplesGirlKeymasterHe obviously ages with time, unlike Rumple.
Does anyone else think that Jafar will be turned into a genie, trapped in a bottle like in the Aladdin movie? Maybe it’s not a matter of killing him so much as trapping him. The Sultan did say tonight, “are you sure you’re not in a cage?” as if foreshadowing.

indeed I do. I think Jafar is going to make a very big wish as a last resort (when his plans have failed and he is down to his last wish) he will make the wish to be all powerful and thus become a genie, or he will wish for something but word it wrong and become a genie as the result

Keeper Of Tamara's Taser , Jafar's Staff, Kitsis’s Glasses , Ariel’s Tail, Dopey's Hat , Peter Pan’s Shadow, Outfit, & Pied Cloak,Red Queen's Castle, White Rabbit's Power To World Hop, Zelena's BroomStick, & ALL MAGICDecember 5, 2013 at 9:57 pm #228318TheWatcherParticipantAlso… What do we know about sand monsters in myth? I remember the Cave of Wonders was a giant sand tiger… Maybe that has something to do with it. I mean they already estvished magic cannot revive the dead, yet Jafar is still pumping it

I agree. All magic comes with a price. Alice will wish him to become an all powerful genie and wind up inside Cyrus’ bottle, Cyrus having been freed or something.

Or maybe it just the magic of anger that brought him back I don’t know.
December 6, 2013 at 12:23 am #228387darkones1fanParticipantIt reminds me a bit of what they said about Jafar in the Kingdom Hearts Games

But there was *something* that happened each time death happened around Jafar. When his mother died, some sort of weird wind happened plus glow-y sand something sorta floated around him. Then right before he “came back” after the Sultan tried to kill him, the wind blew and the glow-y thing happened again. These “higher darker powers” of which you speak haven’t been shown or elaborated on in either ONCE or ONCEWL. And given that WL is only 13 episodes I don’t know if they’d have time for some sort of metaphysical examination of “high dark powers.” Jafar’s mother was a healer. She cured many people, according to Jafar and she gave him that ring. A ring he is NEVER without. I think that ring is somehow tied to his ability.

Agreed. They made a point in this ep of once again raising the topic of wishes having consequences, and couple that with the comment about Jafar being locked in a cage.

Could well be. There seemed to be symbols engraved around the stone in the ring, so maybe it’s something magical and whoever possesses it can’t die? Jafar’s mother died right after she’d handed it over to him.
