Interesting interview with Lana Parrilla:

Translation made by myself of an interview of Colin O’Donoghue to a French TV Show magazine about his character Captain Hook.
Do you know how Emma and Hook’s relationship will evolve ?
I think that Hook is sincerely attracted to Emma. She has a big personality and an iron will which can only seduce him. They feel a sort of mutual respect because they are alike in many aspects. Not sure that their relations will become romantic however, because for now, Emma has mostly the habit of tying me down to what she can find to prevent me from following her. I spent a big part of my time on the show tied down by the way. Personally, I don’t see any problem in that. Anyway, Hook is pretty good at getting himself out of any situation, even the most dangerous. Were you expecting such an enthusiastic reaction from fans?
No, I was really surprised. I wasn’t expecting myself to start a hysteria on the internet. My family is teasing me a lot and it makes my wife laugh a lot too. [laughs] It’s really weird. I had never been associated to a project that triggered so many reactions so it’s all very new for me. And the guys from my rock band find this hilarious. [NDLR: he is the guitarist in the Irish group The Enemies]How would you describe your character?
Hook is a pirate and he isn’t someone you can easily trust. He is capable of lying and cheating to get what he wants. But he was sincerely in love with Rumplestiltskin’s wife and his desire for revenge is sincere. You can even say that Hook is particularly brave, because you need to be brave or crazy to pick an enemy as powerful as Rumplestiltskin. But is Hook a villain or a hero?
Since he is teaming up with Cora, I’d tend to say that he is a villain. He is obsessed with his desire for vengeance. So anyone who will be on his path will be in danger. He is very selfish because he only thinks about killing Rumplestiltskin and he would be very capable of sacrificing the entirety of Storybrooke to achieve his goal. Even Emma would not be able to stop him. She is entirely right to not trust him. Frankly, he does not deserve it… At least, not at this point of the story. For now, he is a sociopath and a manipulator, he has no loyalty except towards himself. With his pedigree (I’m supposing they mean his backstory), why are fans so seduced by the character?
Because people love anti-heroes, characters à la Han Solo capable of doing the good thing at the last moment. And also, thanks to Johnny Depp, the entire world has a thing for pirates. And let’s not forget that Hook is a big seducer. He is a sort of very sexy Don Juan who does not hesitate to use his charm to get what he wants. But he is incapable of having a real relation with a woman since he lost the one he loved. It’s very romantic, in a certain aspect…Did you have your word regarding the look of your character?
No, I let the costumers and the producers decide. At some point there were talks about me wearing a wig, because pirates often have long hair in movies. Finally, they gave up on that idea. However I had to get used to putting eyeliner on. But the hardest is to wear a hook and to not be able to use my left hand. Besides, I almost blinded myself several times. Thankfully the hook is not really sharp or I would have already lost an eye. February 7, 2013 at 7:05 pm #171948SlurpeezParticipant‘Once Upon a Time’: Josh Dallas Previews Giant Confrontations and Charming vs. Hook
Prince Charming, victim in a case of mistaken identity?
On Once Upon a Time, Charming (or David in present-day Storybrooke) will be at the center of an unwelcome reunion, of sorts, when Anton the Giant (Jorge Garcia) makes his return to the ABC fairytale drama in this weekend’s return. But it’s much more complicated than meets the eye.
“Sunday’s episode is called ‘Tiny,’ but it is by no means small,” Josh Dallas told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s an epic Once Upon a Time with some rather large characters we’re going to see again.”
In a chat with THR, Dallas teased Anton and Charming/David’s first interaction, an unpleasant Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) encounter and why David’s desperate to head back to fairytale land.
The Hollywood Reporter: What should we expect in this weekend’s episode, which features the return of Jorge Garcia?
Josh Dallas: Cora (Barbara Hershey) of course has come to Storybrooke along with Hook, and she has found a genius way of transporting the Giant onto the pirate ship. Upon seeing David, Anton has a case of mistaken identity and has an old score to settle with David, which David knows nothing about, and proceeds to unleash his vengeance and wreak havoc on the town of Storybrooke. It’s David and the Storybrooke crew’s jobs to try to get Anton [to see] what kind of people the town’s residents are and to get him to [to see] they’re not people he should fear.
We also go back into past fairytale land — we’ve seen present fairytale land which is not a very hospitable place — and we see Anton and his brother up in the clouds in Giant land. Against his brother’s wishes, Anton climbs down the beanstalk into the world to befriend some humans who aren’t especially nice and whose intentions aren’t wholly noble. He’s climbed down to find a different place to where he thinks he belongs a little better; he feels he’s out of place up there with his brother.
THR: Fair to say, a lot is happening.
Dallas: [Laughs] It’s a lot going on. Who knows? We might even find out what Charming/David/James … what his real name is, which is interesting. It’s interesting and obvious all at the same time.
THR: You mentioned that when Anton first sees David, he isn’t too happy about it. How would you describe their first interaction?
Dallas: It’s quick and it’s very violent. [Laughs] Anton doesn’t waste too much time in letting David know how he feels about seeing him again.
THR: How does David rectify the situation?
Dallas: His quest is to figure out why Anton is after him and once he figures that out, he has an idea of who might know, so he goes and he finds out, and of course, his suspicion is right. David/Charming, being the hero that he is, sets out on a quest to prove to Anton that he’s not that guy that he thinks he is, that not all humans are things to be feared by him and that Storybrooke very well could be a place that he could actually [live] in and thrive and feel safe.
THR: Is there a specific moment from “Tiny” that you can tease?
Dallas: There is a great moment at the end with Anton and a few of the other residents of Storybrooke where they’re breaking ground, where there is a sense of hope for these characters and a sense of a brighter future, particularly for David and Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) in David’s mind.
THR: Let’s talk a little bit about their relationship. It’s obviously a key pairing for a lot of the fans and they’re not worlds away from each other anymore.
Dallas: It takes many, many twists and turns along the way. Right now we’re filming episode 17. They are trying to figure out where they belong. Now that they’re back together after all this time being separated straight away after realizing who they were, they’re trying to figure out what their relationship is now. Having that — not necessarily a curse — of true love, how does that work now in the context of where they are in Storybrooke? David, of course, is desperate to go back to fairytale land, even though Mary Margaret has said it’s not like it was. He’s so pure in a way, and I think out of all the characters, Charming has one of the purest hearts of them all because he only wants to do good. He’s desperate to reconnect with his beginnings and court, he wants his kingdom back, he wants his world back. That’s going to be an ongoing struggle in terms of how he’s going to get that.
THR: What are his thoughts on Captain Hook?
Dallas: Up until now, he hasn’t had a chance to interact with Hook, but in this Sunday’s episode, he will have a little bit to do with Hook. Charming is a guy who does not take kindly to people who are liars, manipulators, and I certainly think he sees Hook as one of those kinds of people. There is a little confrontation. If you’re going to insult Charming’s woman, he’s not going to take very kindly to it; that’s all I’m going to say. [Laughs]

February 8, 2013 at 5:47 pm #172085SlurpeezParticipant‘Once Upon A Time’: Josh Dallas Previews ‘Epic’ New Episode, Charming’s Backstory And Future With Snow
This Sunday’s “Once Upon a Time” (Feb 10. at 8 p.m. EST on ABC) not only offers an unconventional spin on the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk (hint: Jack is played by a woman — “Smallville’s” Cassidy Freeman) and the return of Jorge Garcia’s Giant, it also promises a little more backstory for the heroic Prince Charming (Josh Dallas).
Charming spent the first half of the season trying to reunite with his wife Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and daughter Emma (Jennifer Morrison), so this week’s episode, titled “Tiny,” offers a welcome chance for the world’s most attractive grandfather to get back in on the action.
HuffPost TV caught up with Dallas via phone to learn more about Charming’s “violent” encounter with Garcia’s Giant, whether there’s still trouble ahead for him and Snow, and what he hopes to see in our fairytale couple’s future. Spoilers ahead.
This episode sounds like a big one for you — no pun intended — so what can we can expect from “Tiny”?
[Laughs.] Yes … once again, it’s a big, epic “Once Upon a Time” episode, with some pretty big characters in it this time. We’re going to revisit Anton, our Giant played by Jorge Garcia, and of course, we know that Cora is back in Storybrooke and, Cora being Cora, [she] has found an ingenious way of transporting a giant on a pirate ship. And upon David meeting and seeing this giant, he is immediately thrust into a very violent greeting from Anton and it is a case of mistaken identity. David has no idea what [Anton’s] beef is with him and Anton proceeds to unleash his vengeance, not only on David, but the entire town of Storybrooke. So we have this predicament where David is trying to figure out what’s going on and trying to figure out why Anton’s after him and he’s got a pretty good idea who might know. So he goes and finds out and then it’s up to David and the Storybrooke crew to convince Anton that David is not who he thinks he is and that this is not a bad place for Anton, and not all humans are going to hurt him and this could actually be a safe place for him in the end.
We have that section going on in the episode and we also go back into Fairytale Land, but we go back into Fairytale Land past. Now, we’ve already seen Fairytale Land present, which is not a very hospitable place anymore. So, we’re going back into Fairytale Land past where we see Anton and his brothers in Giant Land and Anton is feeling like [he doesn’t belong] in his own world. He feels kind of like a fish out of water and decides, against his brothers’ wishes, to come down into the world, and he leaves them to see if he can find his identity, in a way, and find a place where he belongs. And he meets up with up some humans who appear to be something on the outside, and their intentions aren’t wholly noble towards Anton, and this could be the crux of the whole grudge that he’s holding.
Could this case of mistaken identity have anything to do with Charming’s twin brother, James?
It very well could. [Laughs.]Will the episode offer us any new insight into Charming’s backstory, or James’ backstory, as the case may be?
Well, I think you’ll learn a little more and I think you’ll get a little flavor. In this episode, you will definitely discover what Charming’s real name is. You will find that one out, which is both surprising and obvious at the same time. So, that’s a fun little thing … In Storybrooke, there’s a great scene at the end of the episode, which, I don’t want to give too much away, but that offers a real sense of hope for David and Mary Margaret, and for the whole town of Storybrooke in the sense of “maybe there really is a way to get back home,” and I think that’s something that David really wants and is really searching for.I think he really wants to go back home. He really wants to get his family back. He wants his kingdom back and … you know David, he is a hero. He is a leader and having that curse always takes his attention away from his hopes and goals and he puts those aside so he can help other people throughout the season, and he is called upon to do that. That’s just part of that’s what makes him, him — that’s what makes Charming, Charming. So I think, particularly towards in the end of the episode, there is something that happens, but there’s a real sense of hope within him, which is really nice.
As you mentioned, he’s been focused on the idea of returning to Fairytale Land ever since Mary Margaret got back, whereas she’s seen what a mess it is and isn’t particularly eager to go back there. Will those differing goals continue to be a source of friction between them?
Absolutely. I think he, of course, is the eternal optimist: “We can rebuild this. We can rebuild our life where it began and where it belongs,” in his mind. And Mary Margaret has a point that this might be where they belong right now, and I don’t know if he’s too convinced about that or if she’s convinced about going back. So I think that is yet to be resolved and worked out between them. They’re back together, they know who they are now and they’re in this world where all kinds of things are happening, and like I said, they’re the heroes, so they’re called upon to always help their fellow man or … fairytalian. [Laughs.] They always have to put their lives on hold for a little bit. So I think they’re still trying to figure that out and throughout the season, there’s going to be many more twists and turns to that relationship, and how they’re working their lives out and how they’re moving forward with where they are now.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of the show is that Snow and Charming missed out on so much time with Emma — they missed out on being parents altogether, basically. Do you think that the thought of having another child at some point has crossed their minds; is that something you think they’d be interested in?
Oh, I would hope so. I mean, that’s not something that we’ve discussed with Eddy [Kitsis] and Adam [Horowitz], but in my mind, I would hope that they would want to, like you said, have that experience and I feel that that’d be a really beautiful thing. I think it would be something that the characters would really deserve to have. But again, who knows what would happen if they did? Will we see any more of King George in either world in any of the episodes coming up?
Well, in this episode I think — I haven’t seen the final cut — I think you’ll see a little appearance from him.How much of a threat is Ethan Embry’s character to everyone in Storybrooke, now that we know he saw more than he was letting on when he crashed into Hook?
The character is certainly a mystery and I think everyone in town is trying to figure out who this guy is. Of course, in this episode, he’s going to be grilling Belle about what she saw that night about the car accident and what he saw. So he obviously has some sort of agenda. What that is, we’re just going to have to keep tuning in to find out …“Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

February 9, 2013 at 3:06 pm #172178SlurpeezParticipant‘Once Upon A Time’ Scoop: Ginnifer Goodwin Teases Trouble For Snow & Charming
Plus, Ginnifer gives HollywoodLife.com her thoughts on more Snow babies, strange ships, and the return of Sheriff Graham!
Once Upon A Time returns with all-new episodes Feb. 10 on ABC, and while that’s sure to put a smile on the faces of patient fans, Ginnifer Goodwin tells HollywoodLife.com we probably shouldn’t expect Snow White to be sporting the same grin. “Her smile might be turned upside down for a bit,” she says. “We’re delving into her relationship with her own mother, who was murdered.”“We’re going to address her mommy issues, and the way that affects her relationship with Emma,” she added when we spoke Feb. 5 at the kick-off for Listerine’s 21 Day Challenge. “Talk about mommy issues — Snow and Emma are the same age!”
When we last saw Snow and Charming, they were talking about wanting “different things.” Should we be worried about them?
“We’ve been discussing this as well. I would like to believe that love will conquer all, and that these two will always kiss and make up. But the truth is, they do want different things right now. Mary Margaret desperately wants to create a family in Storybrooke where things are relatively safer, and Charming definitely wants his kingdom back.”
Could “creating a family” mean Snow having more kids?
“I’ve asked [the writers] this, because I think they should have another kid! I’m pitching it, but at the same time, I worry about the impact that would have on Emma. She didn’t have a childhood with her parents, and she’d be watching a child growing up with all the things she didn’t have. But maybe that makes for great television, so we should do it.”
And then there’s Regina, who really seems like she wants to be good. Will she succeed this season? At all?
“That’s something we’re absolutely addressing. I’m impressed with how realistic and relatable and human a journey they’re giving Regina. There will be setbacks, but there will be strides forward, as well. Our good guys, though they’re not naive, do have this annoyingly patient tolerance. They always believe good will win, and they always believe that people can change. I get so annoyed with them sometimes. I thought I was disgustingly optimistic, but our characters really need a good shakedown sometimes.”
It was also recently announced that Jamie Dornan is coming back for a flashback episode. Your thoughts?
“I’m elated! Honestly, he’s one of my favorite co-stars. He’s a joy to work with, and I really missed his presence as an audience member watching the show. I understand, story-wise, why he had to go — but thank God for flashbacks. Graham really adds to the show.”
I’m sure the shippers will be thrilled to see him back. How aware are you of the shippers? Some fans are rooting for an Emma-Regina romance.
“They are! I got into a Twitter war one day over this. I made a comment — purely trying to be funny — that most likely, at 8 o’clock on a sunday night, we’re not going to show a grandmother-granddaughter makeout scenario. I got into a lot of trouble for making that comment. People thought I was being homophobic, but really, I’m just not into incest. In defense of my character, I’m not into the idea of my daughter making out with my stepmother who tried to kill me several times.” http://hollywoodlife.com/2013/02/07/once-upon-a-time-spoilers-snow-charming-relationship-ginnifer-goodwin-interview/
