I had another thought. There is also the year in the EF that has yet to be accounted for. Maybe the EF was overrun by pirates and this is a flashback of the missing year.

Blackbeard and Davy Jones are two different pirates, I think.
I think BB could be Hook’s dad. I’m excited.
