ParticipantI was speculating maybe the Black Fairy isn’t a woman–they avoided using pronouns with the character, and although we generally think of fairies as women, they can be men. In Disney Fairies’s franchise, there are “sparrow men” who are fairies. In myths of fey there’s King Oberon of course (Shakespeare used him in Midsummer’s nights Dream).

That’s interesting. Aren’t we supposed to learn the origin of fairies sometime this season? Well, unless fairies hatch from eggs like dwarves or start out life as humans then become fairies, then there must be fairy men.

Participantthe last time I saw anything relating to Black Beard was Disney’s Blackbeard’s Ghost. Even when I was younger, scenes at the beginning of this movie, scared me and it’s a comedy. It’ll be interesting to see a fresh new take on the character on OUAT.

Blackbeard and Davy Jones are two different pirates, I think. I think BB could be Hook’s dad. I’m excited.
I know they are different, I was just saying that perhaps they are telling us his name is BlackBeard (which isn’t out of the ordinary for a pirate) but in actuality they could be trying to conceal that the character is really Davey Jones, lest we would make the connection from Davey to Killian Jones all too easily. Its like when they were casting for Neal, they called him Jack. Or when they casted Aurora, they called her Anastatsia, and Mulan was called Magnolia, etc.

ParticipantWell, this was surprisingly amazing. With all these spoilers, it’s insane!
I’m hoping for Blackbeard to be Hook’s dad, and when I saw that they were casting Blackbeard, I was so excited. The most ruthless pirate in all the lands is going to meet the OTHER ruthless pirate in all the lands. Amazing!
I want to think that, if they’re going to be killing Hook, they’re not going to be doing it with BB, since it’s a one time role.
Dang it, I’m going insane!

KeymasterI suspect that Blackbeard is his pirate name.
Before he turned pirate he went by the name of Davy Jones

I don’t think that’s what going on here. I know Davy Jones is a popular head canon for Killian’s dad, but I don’t think Adam and Eddie would mesh two different pirates into one character. I think Black Beard is Black Beard.
I just wrote this funny Star Wars parallel thing in case BB turns out to be Killian’s dad.

Oh, I like that theory! Blackbeard = Davey Jones’ colorful pirate monicker that way Hook = Killian Jones

I agree with your theory about it being a “pirate name” . I`m not sure if they will bring in Davy Jones. I think he is the first challenge Hook faced as a pirate.
Oh that’s a really good theory. I like that one.
