Spoiler TV reports a new casting call for season two.
For Episode 2×14, a guest role is being cast. She’s a quick-witted, defiant 10-year-old prisoner of war who can see the future, and shows little fear against the soldiers.

Only about half of it would fit though. The defiance and no fear of soldiers would be Mulan-ish, but the future seeing isn’t anything we’ve seen an indication of in adultMulan, and it doesn’t specify that the kid be Asian, so it’s probably not her. Oh well, was a fun theory for 2 minutes before I talked myself out of it. 😆
Could be one of the child soldiers in the Ogre War. In which case she’d likely be someone Rumple met. Would we be due for another Rumple ep by then? Actually, scratch that, because 10 was below the recruiting age, and we don’t even know that they were recruiting kids at the time when Rumple went to war. Though I guess if she was just a POW and not also a soldier, her age wouldn’t exclude her being involved.

You could be onto something. Besides realizing he was facing a losing battle and deserting, I wonder if what he saw at war caused Rumple to become a “coward”, which I think is actually him having post traumatic stress disorder. (I actually don’t think he was a coward until he became the Dark One, ironically, because a coward wouldn’t have tried to get the Dagger or get his wife back from pirates, even if he did fail at the latter quest.)
Anyhow, if he saw children being taken prisoner and who knows what kind of treatment he saw them receive that could be a large part of his PTSD.
As for being ready for another Rumple episode, I think it would as long as we don’t get one now between now and this episode.
Episode 1 – Ensemble
Episode 2 – Regina-centric
Episode 3 – Snow-centric
Episode 4 – Rumple-centric
Episode 5 – Regina-centric, to me, but should have been Dr. Whale-centric
Episode 6 – Emma-centric
Episode 7 – Ruby-centric
Episode 8 – Ensemble
Episode 9 – Ensemble
Episode 10 – Archie? Regina?
Episode 11 – Belle
Episode 12 – Rumple? Hook? Dr. Whale?
Episode 13 – Aurora? Snow?
Episode 14 – Rumple?December 5, 2012 at 7:56 am #163742PheeParticipantWish we knew more about how the Orges Wars went down. Was is just all the humans from all the kingdoms vs the orges? Because if so, then who would be taking POWs? Judging from what we’ve seen of ogres, they just wanna kill folks, not keep them prisoner. If the various human armies were also fighting against each other at some point, then I could see POWs being taken.
Maybe this kid is where Rumple gets his future seeing abilities from. I’ve never considered him a true future seer, but I know it’s been said that he can “glimpse” future events to a certain extent. If so, perhaps that’s a power he stole from someone.
I still can’t shake the nagging thought of this casting call being for a young Mulan, but that future seeing thing is a major glitch, unless it’s a power she used to have but has grown out of somehow. The bit about being defiant and fearless around soldiers would fit so well though. I could see how a kid who had been through that would grow into a warrior princess type.

December 5, 2012 at 2:54 pm #163771SlurpeezParticipantOr perhaps the little girl is someone in the past. What if she is someone born magical like a young Cora whom Rumple tries to mold? After watching “Queen of Hearts” I was left wondering how Cora knew so much about the dark curse Rumple had designed, considering she was stranded in Wonderland at the time. Cora knew the curse would last 28 years, that the people cursed wouldn’t remember who they were and that time would be frozen. Either Cora is clairvoyant or she overheard Rumple’s plans to design a dark curse. 💡

You have officially blown my mind. 😯

And also: Yay! More child characters. For a while there all the new castings calls were asking for actors in their 20s to 40s. 😕
