If the role of the thief doesn’t refer to Robin Hood then another possibility might be Aladdin. However, I think that would run the risk of over doing it and would introduce too many new big-name characters simultaneously. I think Robin Hood was introduced in S2 because he will play a key role in S3. I agree that showing a very heavily pregnant Maid Marian also suggests that their child is someone important: perhaps Tamara is their child.

I agree. I think Robin’s appearance, and with a pregnant Marian, was not just to show Belle that she was right about Rumple. There was a bigger story there.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 29, 2013 at 12:03 am #198854PheeParticipantI feel like after all the fiasco last year with people reporting they were planning on recasting Jefferson that they said they weren’t interested in recasting ANYBODY.
That casting call does sound awfully similar though, but really most thieves would probably be shown trying to steal something from Rumplestiltskin. Wonder what other thieves could be lurking in FTL?
It just seems way too similar to RH, right down to the fact that he stole magic from Rumple to save someone he loved. Either they’re re-casting or they’re gonna rehash the exact same plot point with someone else already. Neither option really appeals to me, but I’d prefer the former.
Rufio is probably a placeholder for a similar type role, although it would be weird to not just code-name it something else. I feel like we were misdirected with Felix which is the general desire of such things (there was debate as to PP or a Rufio-esque character). By saying Rufio it kinda has to be him or “a Pan” which gives stuff away, yet we haven’t seen an actual casting call for PP even though we know he’s coming. I have a feeling that’s because they don’t want to reveal ANY details about him at all (kinda hard to put out a call without giving any specifics whatsoever!)
Yes, this whole Rufio situation is perplexing. I agree that they probably wouldn’t want to reveal any details about their take on PP.
One thing I’m liking about these casting calls being leaked is that hopefully it means we’ll be getting some actual casting announcements soon. *fingers crossed*
June 29, 2013 at 12:34 am #198861HappyEndingsSpectatorI betcha it is a code name like Wendy was Heidi, and I think it is a code name for PP
The casting call describes him as, “male, 30 years old, brave, honorable and steals magic from Rumplestilskin.”
This was the casting call for Robin Hood in Season 2:19(Lacey)
June 29, 2013 at 9:07 am #198872RumplesGirlKeymasterThe casting call for RH in Lacey and the casting call for this new thief are so close that they have to be related. Maybe it’s not RH re-cast, but maybe it’s Little John or Will Scarlet.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"July 1, 2013 at 1:14 am #198959JosephineParticipantWho exactly is Rufio? I’ve seen him mentioned on a few different sites. I know the Disney animated version verbatim and don’t recall him from the Jason Isaacs live-action version, and I don’t remember him from the book. Where is he coming from?

July 1, 2013 at 3:14 am #198970PheeParticipantRufio is only in “Hook” (took over leadership of the Lost Boys after PP left), which is why we weren’t expecting K&H to have the rights to use him: http://neverpedia.com/pan/Rufio

So A&E even said something like that in an interview, that to them it is more interesting to see a famous character than random thief, even if that means there will not be much more to the story of that character.

July 3, 2013 at 8:57 pm #199395AtlanticaDreamParticipantI definitely agree that they are referring to PP and RH, I don’t see why they would have introduced RH so late if it he isn’t going to return in Season 3

July 7, 2013 at 7:38 pm #199734orzaParticipantI think Robin Hood will show up in Storybrooke and come forward to help Belle run the town because she once helped him. I’m hoping he will become acting sheriff because Storybrooke really needs another hunky sheriff to take care of business. That makes sense to me because Belle is the only character Robin has interacted with besides Rumple. Also, Emily de Ravin is a good actress but not strong enough to carry the home front storyline by herself and the actors portraying the minor recurring characters are not much help there so a strong actor in a prominent role would help the storyline.
The casting call for Robin Hood makes sense if they are planning to continue his FTL storyline and have Robin return to the Dark Castle where Belle keeps giving him food and supplies behind Rumple’s back, or Belle uses her flirting skills to coerce Rumple into helping Robin against his will, or something like that.
Or they just needed to hedge their bets with the casting call in case they couldn’t get Tom Ellis in time.
