If you remember this casting call from awhile back,
[KNIGHT] Male, African-American, British accent, late 20s to early 30s. A sword-for-hire, he’s one of the most dangerous men in Fairy Tale Land, because he’s a man with nothing to lose. In his tragic past, he was torn from his true love and banished from the king and country he served. Though he says he now serves only himself and his fee, he can’t help but be guided by his sense of honor, the memory of the man he once was and his true nobility. Guest star
Looks like we now have our sword-for-hire!
I’m hearing that Once Upon a Time will introduce Lancelot as a “sword for hire with nothing to lose,” a onetime proud member of King Arthur’s Round Table who has since been banished, tearing him away from his true love (Queen Guinevere, as lore tells us).

[adrotate group="5"]July 26, 2012 at 7:10 am #152488SlurpeezParticipantI guessed right. I knew his description sounded a lot like First Knight with Richard Gere as Lancelot. Here is the movie summary for that 1995 feature film, First Knight:
Lancelot lives by the sword. In fact, they’re next door neighbours, so teaming up to fight for money comes pretty naturally. Lady Guinevere, on her way to marry King Arthur is ambushed by the evil Sir Malagant. Fortunately Lancelot is lurking nearby and he rescues his future queen. They fall in love, but Guinevere still fancies the idea of wearing a crown, so she honours her promise to Arthur. Can Lady Guinevere remain faithful, or will this Pretty Woman become a lady of the knight?
Also here is the official announcement of the actor, Sinqua Walls, who has been cast as Lancelot in OUAT:
Once Upon a Time Exclusive: A Teen Wolf Bites Into the Role of Lancelot
Here’s a piece of Once Upon a Time casting news that we like a lot — even, one could say, a Lancelot.
Sinqua Walls, who as of late has been recurring on MTV’s Teen Wolf as pack member Boyd, has been cast on ABC’s fantastical sophomore drama as Sir Lancelot, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Though unconfirmed by ABC, sources tell me Walls will appear in at least two episodes as Lancelot. The actor’s other TV credits include Friday Night Lights (playing Jamarcus Hall), The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Pair of Kings.

July 26, 2012 at 3:26 pm #152516obisgirlParticipantThis is definitely a first for the character of Lancelot. I wonder who’d they’d cast as Guinevere and King Arthur? 😮
Then again, Perry White in the new Man of Steel isn't going to be white either.
July 26, 2012 at 7:05 pm #152544hjbauParticipantI want him to be a knight at king George’s table and leave and start helping snow and charming.
July 26, 2012 at 10:24 pm #152570obisgirlParticipantthat’s an interesting possibility. but I want to see how Adam & Eddie would tackle the King Arthur story. like would see Merlin at some point too or the knights of the roundtable?

I want to see Merlin too. So far, there aren’t any male protagonists who can wield magic. It’d be nice to see a man on board who is known for his good magic.

Well Granny did mention that Red’s cloak came from a “wizard”. I guess most people speculated that she meant Rumple, because he was the closest thing to a “wizard” we had at that point, but if they’re dipping into Arthurian legend now, Merlin is a contender if they want to go back and tell more of that story. But something tells me they’re not necessarily intending to bring in the WHOLE story of Arthur and the knights etc. Sounds like Lancelot has already left that world behind by the time he comes into our story. But I guess if Lancelot is a hit with fans, maybe they’ll keep him around and we could get more of his backstory in the future, which would bring the other characters in too.

I have this hunch that Dr. Whale could be that wizard who gave Granny the magic cloak for Red. The reason is he is obviously connected to Ruby somehow in SB, so it would follow that his FTL counterpart is somehow related to Red’s fairytale story. Perhaps Dr. Whale is Merlin! ❗
