Ok, this has been bugging me. I don’t know if I missed something, please tell me if I did.
King George told Charming in the Shephard that if he didn’t marry Abigail he’d kill Charmings mother and destroy their farm. Charming later defied the King and ran off on a fairly long mission to find and than save Snow. At no point that weve seen did he go and rescue/hide his mother before striking off for days or weeks to find Snow. Did this happen unmentioned and offscreen? Because at no point does Charming grieve over his mother being killed by King George, nor does he express even the slightest bit of concern about the King possibly following through on his promise. Charming has some foolish moments :), but he’s a loving and heroic guy. He’s not about to let his mother get murder and not try to save her or even care that she’s gone, right?
So whats up with this? Did I miss something? Its been a while since some of those earlier episodes aired. Does anyone remember if she’s at their wedding or around the table as plans to fight the curse are being made? She hasn’t been in Storybrooke that I remember.
Thoughts? Insight?[adrotate group="5"]June 26, 2012 at 10:52 am #149114darcyfarrowParticipantThat’s a good point. Best I can figure is George decided killing Charming would suffice and then Regina interrupted that. Ruth wasn’t at the wedding or anywhere in SB as I recall. We need a piece to the story here. She’s too much a part of Charming’s character to be forgotten so easily.
June 26, 2012 at 10:55 am #149115PheeParticipantThere hasn’t been any more mention of his mother. Would be nice if they address what happened to her, but I’m not necessarily holding my breath. I’m just assuming that George has been too preoccupied by going after Charming, so hasn’t given his mother a second thought.

Maybe when Snow and Charming take back the kingdom we’ll see Ruth again.
June 26, 2012 at 12:27 pm #149125hjbauParticipantIt does seem rather careless that Charming wouldn’t try to hide his mother. The events of when he left King George to when he finally met up with Snow again at the glass coffin might not be that many days, a couple of weeks, or a month at the most.
I really thought that they would have Snow meet Charming’s mother and his mother would help her before either of them ever knew who the other was, but that never happened. Maybe it isn’t too late. They could have Snow and Red go there after they run from the hunting party.
June 26, 2012 at 12:53 pm #149128scaredcrow65ParticipantIt’s really wierd! I mean, even if George was distracted and didnt bother, charming should have shown at least the slightest bit of concern over what George might do. I mean, they were talking about his mothers ring, just not about her.

that’s my hope too.

that would be awesome. I hope we see more of her in season 2.
June 26, 2012 at 3:31 pm #149140GaultheriaParticipantMaybe George was bluffing and James knew it. George might really be James’ father, from a secret affair long ago. George is extremely bitter about something; could be that his father forbade him to marry his true love or have any contact with her because she was a peasant.

June 26, 2012 at 7:55 pm #149168AliasscapeParticipantI assume eventually George was after Charming for his defiance, without the wedding really mattering anymore. Surely Midas called off the engagement once Abigail had Frederick back. So there’s no reason for George to put on a show for Midas anymore. It was now just about Charming being this renegade heir he no longer wanted. So he just needed to dump him to be sure he didn’t inherit the kingdom but everyone else was then inconsequential.
Now why Charming didn’t seem concerned prior to this I don’t know. Could he have arranged for his other to go into hiding?
