If Emma was never adopted then an agency just assigned her the name Swan.  Children in the foster system do not have their parents names until they are officially adopted.  My parents adopted 3 children and they had to keep their legal names until the adoption went through.  So Emma was given a name since she was just found.  Instead of Doe the agency chose Swan.

She was adopted by a family and was with them until she was three.  So, it’s not unreasonable to think the child she’s referring to here, might be this mystery guy.

That above quote indicates that she was never officially adopted.  She was with a foster family until the age of 3 and then put back into the system.  I think a nurse gave her the last name Swan because of the meaning behind the name.

I am now going to put Brother Swan on the back burner and call him Bails Bond Bud.

I still think BroSwan could work because what Emma thought she knew and what happened might be different.  Maybe Bro Swan is from another home later on too, if not the boy who she thought replaced her.  Maybe this is not the first time he tried to contact her but before she was not ready to let him in, to listen  to a story that sounds incredible until you believe in magic.

I wonder if Emma was viewed a bit as a scary child, like in a Stephen King novel?   Did her magic freak out potential parents?  Did she run at some point thinking a family would not want her but they did?  There was somethin in the newspaper about her criminal past but we could not quite see it, just tragic set of events if anyone remembers.  I always thought she first got on the criminal path trying to protect someone, maybe this guy.

Or maybe he is the one who taught her how to steal cars.  Endless possibilities and months to speculate.

I’m leaning more toward bondsman myself right now. We don’t know when Emma was sent back and if the new baby was just born and they sent Emma back then they wouldn’t really know each other and he’d have no reason to look for her.

I think the random guy could be a former one night stand that has connexions that Emma wishes to use. She dresses up nice to meet him, they exchange “great to see you” Emma tries to be perhaps a little flirty and exploit their history together and the guy turns around and says he can’t help Emma and that he’s moved on with his life, and that it was great to see Emma again. He kisses her then leaves.

Emma is at Granny’s Diner. Ruby serves her a cocoa.)

Emma: Thank you.

(Regina enters the diner and sits with Emma.)

Regina: How was your walk with Henry? That’s right – I know everything. But relax. I don’t mind.
Emma: You don’t?
Regina: No. Because you no longer worry me, Miss Swan. You see, I did a little digging into who you are. And what I found out was quite soothing. It all comes down to the number seven.
Emma: Seven?
Regina: It’s the number of addresses you’ve had in the last decade.Your longest in anywhere was two years. Really, what did you enjoy so much about Tallahassee?
Emma: If you were wondering, I did find a place here in town.
Regina: I know. With Miss Blanchard. How long is your lease? Oh, wait. You don’t have one. You see my point? In order for something to grow, Miss Swan, it needs roots. And you? Don’t have any. People don’t change. They only fool themselves into believing they can.

I know this is the town that Neal and her agreed to settle down in but she had to be doing something to earn money and this is why I think it is where she meet that new guy who taught her the trade for bails bond.

Let’s see she was a baby in Boston, meet Neal in OR don’t know how she got to OR in the 1st place nor how long Emma was with Neal, went to jail in AZ for what was it 18 months, Tallahassee for 2 years, then back to Boston.

The 7 address have to be:

Regina would have had to be talking about addresses Emma had since she was 18. Emma was 28 at the time of that conversation. Since Henry was 10 and Emma had him in jail, I’m guessing Regina is talking about addresses Emma had since leaving jail.

We know one of the addresses was Boston where Henry found her plus two years in Tallahassee. Maybe Emma went to Tallahassee after jail to try and find Neal there.
