We finally got to see a very traditional story of Cinderella tonight! What did you think of Ella, her step sisters (and the revelation that maybe one wasn’t so evil as we believed), the step mother and, most importantly, Gus!

I could not figure out why ELLA got the shot gun out in the first place.
Am looking forward to next episode with Hyde and Jeckle…. looked interesting. I might even read the book if I can get it free on KINDLE.

Also, season 1 established Ella was livin with her stepsisters and stepmother…. But only one of the sisters should be in SB. That really took me out of the story as well as why Cindy randomly had a gun (was she planning on killing Tremaine?) or why Cindy didn’t believe in magic given she lives in a MAGICAL WORLD!!!!! Its not even like magic is a secret, everyone knows its real, so why would she say that? Anyway, it was nice episode. I LOVED Lady Tremaine, but it had a few holes.

This episode did not change my opinion at all, I still don’t like her. I liked that point of view twist of the evil step sister being in love with the footman. There are a lot of stories (especially with Cinderella) like this where we get to the other side of the story and I always like to hear them. The step mother was very typical of Disney and Once. They both need to work on how they represent step parents as always evil.

Nope. This is what was said:
Emma: Um, Ruby. What about her family?
Ruby: Oh, um, she’s got a stepmom and two stepsisters that she doesn’t talk to.She wasn’t living with them in Storybrooke, and it was even specifically said that she didn’t talk to them. The curse would have still given her memories of having a stepfamily, but it didn’t necessarily mean that they were really in Storybrooke. Ashley not talking to them in Storybrooke actually makes more sense now, in hindsight.

So, I can accept that there’s another FTL family that resembles Ella’s more closely than is typical for our world. Would’ve liked to see what happened to Wonderland Ana, but I kind of like this interpretation.

The only thing I really enjoyed was seeing Snow White using her tracking skills to help Prince Thomas find Cinders. I agree with @AKA about not finding Ella/Ashley likeable. She comes across as dim, short sighted and a major screw up. I mean, the moment she whipped out her mother’s dress, anyone could see where it was going to end up. It’s incidents like that which make it hard to sympathise with her.

I know right! It’s like questioning the existence of the ocean while living next to a beach!

I don’t mind the interpretation except in the fact that the stepsister’s story is basically Ana’s.
Step sister: fell in love with someone below her station and ran away from her mother to be with the guy.
Ana: fell in love with someone below her station and ran away from her mother to be with the guy.
The only difference are that 1) Will was a thief not a footman 2) The Evil Step Mother interfered this time around, taking Clorinda to the LoUS
#2 is the big sticking point because if we weren’t doing the LoUS arc right now, they really could have just had Anastasia in this episode, meeting Will, and running off with him.

Also, @Phee just reminded me that both Ana and the new stepsister not only attempted to run away, but both opened portals to another world in order to get away from the mother
