The scene where they burned the dress reminded me a lot of the movie Ever After. There they burn her father’s book.

Same.
I don’t mind the interpretation except in the fact that the stepsister’s story is basically Ana’s.
That’s what I was going for: it’s not just Snow’s story that’s multiplied. The stepsister is the Regina of Cinderella’s story, and the stepmother is the Cora. I’m guessing it’s not a deliberate direction for the show, but it’s very Joseph Campbell and all that. Though if it is deliberate, and they’re leading up to an “I am Spartacus!” resolution to the Hyde arc, that’d be cool.

why Cindy didn’t believe in magic given she lives in a MAGICAL WORLD!!!!! Its not even like magic is a secret, everyone knows its real, so why would she say that?
That’s just it, everyone knows it’s real, so it’s not magic to them, it’s just neat stuff that some people can do. Like, if every village has an alchemist who can transmute lead into gold, people will know that it’s possible even if they don’t know how to do it themselves. But then there’s stuff like dimension-hopping or whatever, and maybe it’s even widely rumoured, but nobody knows anyone who can actually do it; now that’s magic.

Overall, I liked the story. I honestly had no problem with pretty much any of it.
Would’ve liked to see what happened to Wonderland Ana, but I kind of like this interpretation.
I don’t mind the interpretation except in the fact that the stepsister’s story is basically Ana’s. Step sister: fell in love with someone below her station and ran away from her mother to be with the guy. Ana: fell in love with someone below her station and ran away from her mother to be with the guy. The only difference are that 1) Will was a thief not a footman 2) The Evil Step Mother interfered this time around, taking Clorinda to the LoUS #2 is the big sticking point because if we weren’t doing the LoUS arc right now, they really could have just had Anastasia in this episode, meeting Will, and running off with him.
Also, @phee just reminded me that both Ana and the new stepsister not only attempted to run away, but both opened portals to another world in order to get away from the mother
Doesn’t Ella even offer to give Lady Tremaine what she wants, once she’s a princess, to help out Clorinda?
Anastasia’s Mother: At least I have your sisters.
I’m actually wondering if this was changed, due to Michael Socha not wanting to work with A/E again, after S4.
