Michael Raymond-James will reprise his role as Neal Cassidy in the landmark 100th episode, EW has learned.
The True Blood and Terriers alum, who will next star in NBC’s Game of Silence, first made his debut in the season 2 premiere as a mysterious man later revealed to be Rumplestiltskin’s (Robert Carlyle) son Baelfire, as well as Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) first love and Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) father. Neal died in the third season and was last seen via flashback in that year’s finale.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 22, 2016 at 12:11 pm #317481RumplesGirlKeymasterGiven that MRJ shot his scenes over one weekend in Vancity, chances are Neal is *only* appearing in the cold opening (as teased by TVLine’s 100th episode spoiler) and only in the 100th episode.
“Neal died pretty resolved… As far as I understand, Neal’s death wouldn’t be considered wrapped up in Darkness in any way, so I guess that would mean he would go somewhere else. I don’t totally know.”
So Jennifer Morrison, lead actress on the show, has no idea why Neal would appear?? Or how it’s going to be explained..in scenes they already shot? Okay.
Also, Neal died pretty resolved, did he? So he was totally at peace with everything in his life–his affairs, his job, his relationships with his father, step mother, ex, and son? Totally 100% resolved? No lingering issues, no goodbyes unsaid? Really?
What show are you watching, JMo?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 22, 2016 at 12:19 pm #317482KebParticipantI’m both glad–because he needs to be part of this celebration and has to be addressed in this arc somehow–and a little frustrated that even the promotion of this fact seems like an afterthought (if you wanted it to be a big surprise, you don’t confirm it two weeks before…). I suppose we can only hang on for the ride at this point…but I’m with you RG on the fact that no, his death was anything but resolved. He never even got to say goodbye to his son.

The only reason it’s being announced now is because the media finally got screeners at the big celebration. A and E gave permission, never mind the fact that 90+% of the viewership has known for about a month given Isham’s leaked photo, MRJ’s trip to Vancity where he took very open pictures with Sean and Colin, and then TVLine’s Blind Item. He’s still not in the press release or any of the promotional material like promos or photos.
And I’m just going to say it: sure, he’s appearing (which makes sense) but he’ll also be forgotten about (not addressed) for the rest of arc. Somehow this reunion will be both a goodbye to Henry (probably, and really the only thing about this that is going to be acceptable and tolerable, for me, at least), a blessing from Neal for CS, and Neal telling everyone that he’s at peace, they don’t need to save him which gives the characters (and writers) license to forget all about him (again) for the rest of the arc/show.
I’ll use the word I kept using when this first started leaking: it’s cruel.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 22, 2016 at 12:33 pm #317486KebParticipantIt is, but the whole Neal arc has been anyway, for anyone who liked him at all.
They’re basically doing the story I half expected and dearly hoped they’d do at the end of S3…but for someone else’s benefit. It would have made so much more sense for everyone to go after Neal than it does for Hook, because blood…nothing against Hook, but he still, after all this time together, doesn’t have the same deep connection to the other mains that Neal does. In his relationships to them he’s still almost as periphery as Belle or Robin–very important to one person, almost irrelevant to the others (though he does have that mortal enemy thing going with Rumple–but that’s not a reason to go to hell and back for someone).
(In fact, of the group, Belle is probably the most likely besides Emma to actually want to go to the underworld to save Hook–they’re actually friends now. But noooooooooo…)

There is nothing cruel about a character returning to a show for it’s 100th episode. He should be there.

Read what I wrote. I didn’t say his return is cruel. In fact, I even said
he’s appearing (which makes sense)
It’s the way he’s returning/being used. I don’t disagree that he should be there–I disagree with the way he is being used.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 22, 2016 at 12:45 pm #317489RainbowParticipantAt this point i believe in everything, but the fact that the media saw the screening, may not explain all, i mean they could have kept secret,so i wonder if was released now, bc MRJ will appear in van to film more scenes, since they are filming a Emma centric and before paps found out that he was on set. Probably not, but at this point all my certain about this are falling fast, i almost prefered them to do like pan and bring Dylan there. UGH. Worst news ever. RIP my peace 30th march 2014 -22nd february 2016. And a fast scroll on those comments in the articles, explain why is a bad news, the haters are on time.

Right but how else could he be used. Obviously he can’t come back full time due to his other show. So isn’t this one of the few ways they can bring him in for he 100th episode? I’m not sure what else they could do to make it less “cruel” for Neal fans.
