Statement from podcast 2×06 Tallahassee: Once a heart is plucked by magic it will always belong to the person that plucked it.

Statement from podcast 2×08 Into the Deep: The power to hold the heart is a very strong power and a power that will let you control someone.

Here’s my problem. Hook plucked the heart NOT Cora, thus, according to statement #1, Hook should be the one controlling Aurora and not Cora. However, as per statement #2, we see Cora controlling her.

Does this mean that if someone plucks a heart and wishes to give it away they then relinquish all claims to it and transfer all power to another?

    Good Questions!

One a side note, did you ever in your life think you would be asking a question about heart plucking?

😆 Kalliope! I know huh! There’s the delicate pluck in which one does not hurt the individual but controls them. There’s a rough pluck where one can permanently hurt or kill the individual. There’s the pluck & crush (no coming back from that one). There’s the pluck from a deceased individual where you can use their bodies as zombies.

As you said, who’d of thought we’d be talking about it all! 😆

😆 I do love that they gave Cora a line where she called Aurora “plucky”, and shortly thereafter, she had her heart plucked.

Anyway, in regards to the technical question, I’m thinking that the plucker can relinquish the power if they willingly give it to someone else. In The Doctor, we saw Rumple pluck the unicorn’s heart, then he handed it over to Regina, telling her to kill it. He gave up the heart, and in doing so, gave Regina control over it. Same deal with Hook giving Aurora’s heart to Cora.

How much control does the person who took the heart have over the person who’s heart they’d taken? Does the heart plucker have to control the heart pluckee’s every move or can the heart pluckee go about their everyday business until their heart is in the heart plucker’s hand, at which point they have to submit to the heart plucker’s will?

All magic comes with a price!

The Huntsman / Sheriff Graham was able to do things on his own. He seemed to have some mind on his own even, despite that Regina had his heart in a box. So it’s what you said, a direct control of their action has the plucker (only), when she/he has the heart in their hands.

    ¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
