It’s one thing I thought about.
Basically, in the second half of S3 we’re introduced to Zelena, and Regina doesn’t quite manage to work things out with her exactly.
Now we know Elsa is coming, and her story is very much sisterly. Not only that – but we have Will coming back – and with him presumably, Anastasia.
Instead of the Ana = Anna thing, maybe it’s an intentional Parallel?
Maybe Regina learns to derive her love from family, not romantic partners, and Elsa & Ansatasia’s stories teach her to value her family more – given it was Henry who’s most affected her so far.
I’m betting there’s some connection between Elsa and Glinda too given how she was trapped in the Snowy place(Arendelle?) so I get the feeling that Glinda’s going to turn up again, and tell Regina that if she can love her sister in spite of all that she did, that act of love will bring her back and give her another chance.
What do you think?
To be honest I hate making these posts though because I always feel disappointed when the real kicker isn’t near as clever as what I came up with lol.

May 26, 2014 at 11:26 pm #271365RumplesGirlKeymasterSince they are mostly using Frozen, then yes, I expect a major theme to be sisterly love and devotion.
I agree with something @JennaB said elsewhere, that S4 is probably going to revolve around the theme of “what is true love?” If you’ve seen Frozen, then you know that the act of true love isn’t a romantic gesture. That also plays into the Sister theme.
We’ve seen, for S1-3 really, true love in regards to romance, be it Rumbelle or Snowing. And of course, child/mother true love with Emma and Regina
But now they’re going to be heavily focused on “second chance” true love. And how it differs, or doesn’t differ, from first time true love."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 27, 2014 at 1:00 am #271372obisgirlParticipantI’m going to expand on that idea and add, maybe a more appropriate general theme of season four will be family.
I think family, what is family will be the theme. Emma’s a big sister now and Robin Hood needs to figure out what he wants his family to look like and what works for him. If Zelena comes back, I’d like to see her and Regina get that second chance.
May 27, 2014 at 8:02 am #271386Sarah_TNParticipantI have a theory about the theme of season 4. Season 1 was about belief. Season 2 was about redemmption. Season 3 was about love. I think season 4 will be about hope.

Yes, that’s my thought about S4, or at least the first half! I think A&E have established the ‘classic’ ideas of love, and now are going to try to redefine it, especially when it comes to the ‘Disney-fied’ versions of fairy tales. Disney movies always end happy – the main characters always find their true love and always live happily ever after. We’ve seen that can happen in OUAT-land: Snowing. But we’ve also seen that happily ever after is an extremely difficult thing to achieve no matter how intense and true your love is: Rumbelle. We’ve seen true love can be romantic and we’ve seen it can be familial – a mother’s love for their child broke not, one, but two, curses.
With the introduction of Elsa, we can again reinforce the fact that love between family members can be true – I’m hoping that they incorporate some concept of true love and acceptance in some form with her character being ‘misunderstood;’ however A&E decide to portray the same. And with the emergence of CaptainSwan, I’m hoping they do show that just because you learn to love someone else, ‘true love’ doesn’t have to mean ONE true love, and continue to show how important Neal and Milah were to Emma and Hook, and how they approach a relationship after such an intense first love. Emma has finally completely accepted Snow & Charming as her parents, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow as a family.
I’m very curious to see where they go next season. I found it interesting that the writers decided to wrap up the Zelena storyline and then basically write a stand alone finale. The finale had some good fairy tale elements – swordfights! Trolls! Evil Queen burning folks at the stake! — but in the end, the focus was about Emma learning just how important her family is, and how much she truly loves them and wants to be with them. Personally, I would love if they take these themes of family, sisters, love, etc and continue to focus on the same over the big bads and CGI and magic and near-death challenges…wishful thinking, I know…
