If having magic had to do with true love then it seems like a lot of people would have magic amongst this group of people. I am not sure if that works.

I honestly don’t see why Rumpel would release all that magic knowing that it would give Regina a leg up. It makes no sense. I think he released it knowing that everyone would be able to use it except Regina.
I don’t think Rumpel cares whether or not Regina gets her magic back. He has his own agenda and Regina was just a means to an end.
I think it would be more interesting if Regina did get her magic back, it means she can play a lot dirtier when fighting with Emma over Henry. Before the magic had returned, Regina was defeated and had given up. However, the look on her face when she saw the purple smoke suggests that she knows what is happening and that Emma had better watch out because Regina is back with a vengeance.

Granted, she has never been as powerful as Rumpelstiltskin, but after all that has happened this season (after all that Rumpelstiltskin has done to ruin Regina) she is not going to be happy, especially with how Henry got involved. And I highly doubt that she is entirely alone–she did have a small group of people with her when she first wanted to enact the curse. I would not be surprise if she gathered them again. There is also the fact that, since now Rumpelstiltskin knows what truly happened to Belle (minus how she got captured, how long she has been in the custody of the Evil Queen, and what was done to her) he is seriously going to relish her in misery, and leaving her powerless and in the mercy of the whole town would be to his standard.
It could be that automatically everyone gets magic back–that seems to be the most sure thing. A popular theory is that Regina won’t because she does not have love, but given all that she did for Henry, that does not seem to be the case. Also, Regina had her powers before she had Henry, and she used them to the fullest.

He often plays two sides against the middle and gets what he can from the situation which I think is what he’s going to do with Snow/Charming and Regina. He’s going to direct everyone’s fury towards Regina whilst carrying out his own plans before finally taking his revenge on Regina towards the end of the season. I think Rumpel knew that when he brought magic back, Regina would be able to use it too, so he’s got a plan for that should the need arise.

You’re probably right. I’m just curious to see how he’ll be able to redirect everyone’s anger from him to Regina. I mean, he’s done it before, but now that the curse has been broken, you’d think that it would be a tad more difficult than before. I guess it all depends on whether or not people know who the true creator of the curse is. I think people still assume that it was Regina. He may be able to use that advantage, but only for a limited amount of time.
June 17, 2012 at 6:26 pm #148834PriceofMagicParticipantAll Rumpel would need to do is say to Emma that Regina has magic and she’s coming to reclaim Henry. Emma is going to then be more concerned about Regina than Rumpel. Snow and Charming are going to want to protect their grandson from Regina as well. Considering everyone is going to have both their Storybrooke and fairytale memories, Rumpel has played a clever game because his part in everything is still undiscovered to the other characters. For example, as far as Snow is aware, Regina tried to frame her for murder and Rumpel tried to defend her.
So far, Rumpel appears to be the lesser of the two evils and he will use that to his advantage.

He planted evidence on Regina for Kathryn’s kidnapping and he was going to leave town and let Regina suffer the wrath of the town when the curse was beginning to break. The last episode showed how much her distrust of him had grown since the earlier episodes.
And keep in mind, Regina has her own trump card: Rumpelstiltskin made the curse, not her. If she tells everyone who the maker is, they will be out for him as well. Granted, Rumpelstitlskin is very powerful, but he was held in the cell before–it could be done again if done right.
Even if the magic was made from True Love, Regina will still gain her powers back. She had obtained them before, she will do so again.
June 17, 2012 at 8:00 pm #148846Daniel J. LewisKeymasterI agree that Regina will find a way to get her hands on some sort of magic. It’s almost inevitable. But we’re not exactly sure how she got her powers in the first place. After learning that her mother Cora was in fact the original millers daughter, I have a feeling that she got her powers from Rumpel. That puts her in a very vulnerable position. If Rumpel was the one who originally gave Regina her powers, then she may have to look elsewhere for more magic.
June 18, 2012 at 11:29 am #148876elleParticipantI don’t see Rumpelstiltskin giving people power–he wants to be the one on top, unless he was able to predict how Cora would have Regina, who would become a very useful tool. But then how would he have given her power? With gaining power in this show, it seems that killing someone is the only route to take. He may have told Cora about a powerful wizard or wielder of magic, and told her how to kill them.
