This may seem mad, and it’s entirely possible that it will end up being disproven very soon, but I’ll put it in here and now, perhaps before it’s too late. Basically, a few people have suggested that Greg, the guy who ran over Hook in his car, is Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. However, I have a wacky idea.
What if Hyde ends up being Archie? Yes, we know Archie’s past, and his personality, and so far he doesn’t seem very Hyde-ish. However, he did spend some time kidnapped and tortured by Hook and Cora. I don’t know, exactly, how Archie was tortured. However, it was apparently bad enough for Archie to tell Hook all about Belle. I believe that Archie told Hook about Belle, but not about Baelfire. Archie knows about Belle. I mean, he might not know about their fairytale history, but he has to have noticed Belle and Mr. Gold around town, and he’s not stupid. He can put two and two together.
Yes, he did reveal Regina’s secret to Emma quickly, but he was trying to help. He wouldn’t intentionally reveal a secret if he knew it would hurt somebody. And yes, he did look fine when Belle rescued him, but we didn’t see under his clothes. Or maybe Hook also did a lot of psychological torturing. Or maybe Hook and Cora were in it together. Hook tortures, Cora heals, Hook tortures some more, Cora heals, Archie confesses all he knows, Cora goes to get her nails done so she’ll be conveniently off-screen, and Hook goes to meet Belle at the library.
I can imagine Archie feeling pretty lousy and guilty about this, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Yes, it wasn’t his fault, but guilt isn’t logical. And torture does terrible things to people. Remember, Archie is the town therapist. If he needs help, he has nobody to go to. So Archie, suffering from intense PTSD, “snaps” and takes on a darker persona, that of Hyde.
Of course, there is *no* actual evidence that it’s going to happen. (I don’t think.) But of all the characters to become the deranged monster Hyde, the conscience Archie would be one of the best, IMHO.
