Rumple wants to use the shears to cut Belle (and his son’s) destiny. What exactly does this entail? Is this a magical (no political statement here!) abortion or does it change Morfetus’s perception of his father?

When Rumple said those shears can cut away more than savior powers I thought he was talking about cleaving himself from the darkness again. Using them on non-magical Belle makes no sense whatsoever.

I think that Rumple was referring to the fact that they can be used on anyone, regardless of whether or not they are a Saviour, to change their destiny. So in this instance, he wants a different outcome for his relationship with Belle and his child, and he feels that their current destiny will result in them not living happily together. So he plans to cut her existing destiny away for a shot at creating one which involves the life he wants.

I still don’t think that gels. Destiny has always been a force in this show but so has free will. Belle’s destiny isn’t a set line; we see it change from week to week each time she changes her mind about Rumple and his level of involvement in her and Morfetus’s life.

I agree, I don’t think whether she stays or does not stay withe Rumple is anything to do with her destiny. If it was, I would say it would be the opposite and that because at one time they were actual “true love” her destiny would lie with him. I think the only explanation is that EQ is talking out of her butt, and that Rumple was going to use the shears on himself. The question is why and what was he planning on doing.

this was my thought as well. I think in the end the serious will cut be used to cut Rumpel from his dark one powers as they can be used to cut saviors from their…savior powers.

I agree. Mostly free will is given reign, but certain things seem predestined – true loves getting together for example, or Merlin’s prophecies. My theory is that this is related to the prophecy of a boy being Rumple’s undoing. That was never resolved, and it could well be Morfetus. So this could be the fate Rumple is trying to cleave himself from.

Yeah maybe but does Rumple do the cutting or someone else? If Rumple does the cutting how does he even get there emotionally because so far he’s been the same guy as last year claiming to love his dagger as much as he loves Belle. So far he hasn’t shown that he wants to be free of it….

I agree, I think Rumple plans on using them on himself but to what effect I am not sure, maybe he could use them to “cleave” himself from the dagger and retain his powers. Either that or he plans on using them on baby Morpheus but I don’t know why he would do that either. I don’t think he was going to use them on Belle.
I also thought it was interesting that he told EQ that she shouldn’t take things that belong to him. Was he just saying because he wanted them they were his, or are they actually his? Were they at one time in his possession?

Yes how does Rumple claim ownership? Jafar passed them to Aladdin who passed them to Emma who passed them to Hook who (eventually) dumped them into the sea. Unless Rumple gave them to Jafar but…why??? Rumple *needed* a Savior. Why not destroy a piece of magic that could potentially undo a Savior and rob Rumple of what he needed most?
