I had mixed-emotions about David’s ability to recall FTL flashbacks sitting in Archie’s office. How was it that he had them in the first place and then could recall tem? I was excited on the one hand, and confused on the other. Also, if he was blacking out in SB, and then he had memories of FTL that happened in the past, what was he really doing during those blackouts? Were his blackouts times when his FTL memory was over-riding his fake SB memories? Is there an internal conflict between Prince Charming and David for dominance? It’s as if there are two identities struggling for consciousness inside his head.
Also, I was really upset with David for being silly enough to accuse Mary Margaret of playing a role in Kathryn’s death. How could he so easily succumb to his “memories” without questioning them? How could he not stand by Mary Margaret when she stood by him? Were his conflicting memories the reason?
I get the idea that David is supposed to be the direct opposite of Prince Charming in SB, but I at least hoped that remembering parts of FTL would help David recapture at least some of Prince Charming’s better attributes. Prince Charming was even willing to take an arrow for Snow White to spare her tarnishing her heart. (BTW, how did Prince Charming not die from that arrow hitting him in the chest right above his heart? Does he still have a heart or does Regina have it in her vault? Or was he just lucky to be wearing a breast plate?)

David has a void that has been filled with false realities (ie. marriage to Kathryn, home and pictures). He is inexplicably and unexplainably drawn to MM, and I think he can’t understand why because He believes the reality he has been given. So his subconcious is working to restore the truth of who he is really is and who MM really is, but he cannot see outside the context he has been given, thus he ties the memories of FTL to the present because at this point he has no way of knowing he and MM are from another world, and why would any rational “human” think such a thing? Graham seemed almost crazy and irrational to Emma in his search for truth and when he finally realized it the queen’s usefulness for him was done, and so was he — done for. I don’t think the queen has David’s heart, but I will say I about died when he walked into her office to talk and confer with her. Does the man have no sense? Obviously not. No sense and no answers. He simply wants to believe what is in front of him and make the easiest connections. He honestly acts as if there is no bad person, he wants to be nice to everyone and believe everyone is looking out for his best interests. Prince Charming understood the good and the evil, David Nolan seems to have no concept. Must be some kind of pixie dust:)

AT the beginning of the episode, when they show scenes from older episodes they showed something that I had also remembered before. Rumpel saying to Snow (while giving her the potion) that “He won’t even remember who he is.”
I know the potion-curse has been broken, but I believe that it’s not only the evil curse that is making him forget but also the side-effects of that potion. Kathryn telling him (as we now know she did) that he and MM should be together, triggered the memories. It’s strange though that he doesn’t question the memories at all. I mean Snow had long hair, had weird clothes on and the forrest was covered in snow. There wasn’t any snow in SB!

On the one hand, there is so much potential for him to remember FTL, and on the other, David is conflicted and therefore bound to confuse his flashbacks with events in SB. I really hope Dr. Hopper can sort out David and give him some professional analysis before David does some really stupid like testify against Mary Margaret in court. (Maybe that fear is what drove Mary Margaret to escape from jail).
I’d forgotten that Rumple told Snow White that Prince Charming wouldn’t even remember who he is. I doubt Rumple meant this about the potion Snow drank to forget Prince Charming, since Prince Charming obviously still remembered SW in FTL. Rumple probably meant it in reference to how Snow White’s hair would be essential to finalizing the dark curse, in which everyone would forget their FTL identities, including David.
I’m really interested to know what’s going to happen next between David and Mary Margaret in SB. Last time, David essentially accused Mary Margaret of wanting to kill Kathryn, although he was going off of hazy memories that he didn’t bother to verify with his psychiatrist. Also, David is having blackouts, which are really his subconscious telling him he is a fairytale character, only he doesn’t know it. Great. My hope is that David will have more flashbacks, and that Archie is going to help him sort these out. David really needs some professional help
Recall how Snow White said she valued actions more than words when it came to love. I’m hoping beyond hope that David is going to remember his days as Prince Charming by the finale and prove to Mary Margaret that he is noble. If he remembers how Prince Charming was willing to die to save Snow’s good heart from darkness, perhaps David will figure out how to save Mary Margaret from her current predicament. If only David could recall what he was looking for during his blackouts in the woods and by the troll bridge. I have a feeling that whatever he was looking for will be the solution to resolving the mystery. Also, we saw in the preview for episode 17 that Mary Margaret not only goes missing, but is tied up. I hope that if Emma can't save her, David will be the one to do so.

When David remembers the memories with Archie’s help, he remembers finding Snow White and her not remembering him and wanting to kill the EQ. That’s the part he was “acting out” while dazed in the woods. Yes he ran into MM then, but seeing as he wasn’t quite there it’s not surprising he didn’t recognize her.
March 19, 2012 at 9:18 pm #139233killianhookfanParticipantSadly, David is such a hot mess and is in need of so much psychological help that I find myself in the awkward position of hoping that MM will move on and find someone else – she can do much better. But I’m guessing that would drastically change the outcome of the series.
But seriously, come on. David is like the male equivalent of Sybil. He was James 1.0, then he was James 2.0, then he was coma David, then he was post-coma David, then he was post-coma- married-but-I-have-no-idea-who-the-heck-you-are-Kathryn David, then he was married-but-I-really- love-MM David, then he was I-really-love-MM-but-I’m-going-to-try-to-make-it-work-with-Kathryn David, then he was it’s-really-never-going-to-work-with-Kathryn-so-I’m-now-REALLY-going-to-be-with- MM David, then he was I-really-have-no-talent-for-relationships-with-women-in-any-way- shape-or-form David. Now he’s in-desparate-need-of-psychiatric-treatment-but-I act-on-my- hypnotic-therapy-prior-to-discussing-it’s-meaning-with-my-doctor David. I heard Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold” the other day and I thought we should make that David’s official theme song because the man can’t make a decision to save his life and is like a schizophrenic on a medication holiday.
I really hope they do SOMETHING with his character by the end of the season. It can be something desparately WRONG (like I fear it will be) like getting together with Regina, as long as the man makes a decision and sticks with it for awhile.
March 19, 2012 at 9:53 pm #139244hjbauParticipantI think that Rumpel said “You won’t even remember who he is” not he. I don’t think saying he makes sense. Also Snow’s response is “I won’t remember him?”

I think you got it. I think that time that David went to the ‘toll bridge’ it was exactly what Henry was saying, he was looking for ‘Snow White.’ I think it was the same thing when Mary Margaret encountered him in the woods and he kept on repeating that he was ‘looking.’ There’s some internal conflict between David’s false memories (implanted by the curse) and Prince Charming. Except he was less coherent than Graham once he started remembering.

What really bothers me about that is that we got a glance of those memories and yes, the face is Mary Margaret but Mary Margaret doesn’t have long hair and yes, they were in the woods but clearly, there was snow on the ground. Two clues right there that should have told David, hey, something isn’t right here.
But I think it goes back to what what August said, seeing things that are literally in front of you versus believing something else. Now, I wish August would sit down with David and have a chat with him.
March 21, 2012 at 4:13 pm #139392cooldudetteParticipantDespite the mess that David is and the fact that he needs psychiatric help, we still need David to redeem himself in front of MM. He failed to stand by the woman he loves when she needed him the most. She stood by him even after he had lied to her and got her a tramp stamp.
Shouldn’t he have had unbreakable faith in her? Shouldn’t he have said, “I saw this but it cannot be you, we will figure this thing out together” Shouldn’t he have been the first to protest her arrest instead of falling for Regina’s words??
As much as I keep falling for PC James from FTL, I am getting irritated with this David from the RW
James was so gallant, noble and chivalrous like a hero, David is thoughtless and selfish unlike a hero (no offense to David-lovers, sorry if I hurt you) -
