Participant–Mr. Not Green Arrow is also scary
He’s Prometheus, right? Which connects us over to Flash with Dr. Alchemy
Interesting…
Anyway, I thought “Legacy” was surprisingly better than “Flashpoint.”
Next week, Supergirl and Legends.

They said they’re calling him Prometheus, but apparently he’s not actually based on the comic character Prometheus, they’re just using the name. Most of the speculation I’ve seen is people thinking it’s gonna be undead Tommy. And most of the time I scoff at any suggestion that they’d resurrect Tommy, especially now that Colin Donnell is over on Chicago Med. Buuuuut, I did kinda come up with an idea which I guess is a bit crackpot but might actually make sense?
They never followed up on what Malcolm did with that handful of Vandal Savage ash he pocketed last season. And could the ashes of an immortal sociopath maybe be an ingredient to bring back someone from the dead and have them be evil? And if you brought someone back from the dead using magical ashes, would Promtheus not be a fitting name for them, what with the giving of fire to humankind and all? And at the time that Malcolm took those ashes, he’d been having issues with Thea slipping through his grasp, so maybe he wanted another shot with kid #1 instead?
The big sticking point though is just the logistics of CW being able to borrow Colin from NBC in order to shoot a couple of eps. Though I have to wonder if maybe Colin has a clause in his contract allowing for a couple of Arrow appearances should they need him, considering they have used him a bit even after Tommy’s death?

ParticipantI think that Tommy being Prometheus could actually work with where they are thematically right now. Oliver quit killing after Tommy died. Now in the season premiere we see Oliver telling Thea that he basically blames himself and his no killing rule for Laurel’s death, because if he’d just killed Darhk earlier, then Laurel would still be here. So now he’s back to killing again, and we’re delving into the moral dilemma of if killing can be justified or not, a dilemma that was originally raised because of Tommy.
Tommy loved Laurel. Some of his last words to Oliver were asking him if Laurel was safe. So if Tommy were to know that Laurel has died, he’d be pretty pissed. And if he’s come back all crazy, and he’s grieving, and angry, then he’s gonna blame Oliver for Laurel’s death, because he didn’t keep her safe. And Oliver’s already blaming himself for Laurel’s death. So isn’t this whole situation just ripe for some delicious angst?
They’ve always said that this show was originally planned as a 5 season arc showing how Oliver came to be the Green Arrow. Well, if you wanna make the S5 finale feel like a bookend moment for S1, killing Tommy all over again would certainly achieve that. And in the S5 premiere they paid homage to a scene from the Pilot, so it’s maybe not much of a stretch to think that they might repeat that in the finale. Bonus: the scene from the Pilot involved Tommy.
In the S5 ep, Oliver’s been kidnapped, along with other people, and he’s restrained to a chair.
Oliver: If you hit me again, I’m gonna kill you.
Bad guy: You’re delusional. You’re zip-cuffed to that chair.
Oliver: *lifts up his hands then picks up the chair and uses it as a weapon, eventually getting the guy in a headlock and right before snapping his neck* I’m sorry, but nobody can know my secret. In the S1 ep, Oliver and Tommy have been kidnapped, and Oliver’s restrained to a chair.
Bad guy: What did he tell you?
Oliver: He told me, I’m gonna kill you.
Bad guy: You’re delusional. You’re zip-cuffed to that chair.
Oliver: *lifts up his hands then picks up the chair and uses it as a weapon, kills one guy, chases the other one down, and eventually gets him in a headlock and right before snapping his neck*
Bad guy: You don’t have to do this.
Oliver: Yes I do, nobody can know my secret. Now, maybe it’s a bit of a stretch to say that them basically re-inacting a scene that originally involved Tommy, and bad guys in masks, is foreshadowing for how Tommy is now gonna be revealed as a bad guy in a mask. If it were just that one element alone then I wouldn’t put the same amount of stock in it, but when taken along with all that other stuff I’ve rambled about, I’m just sayin’, maaaaybe it might be a thing?

KeymasterHuh. Well, there’s a crack theory that has all the hallmarks of probably coming true. I’ll have to think more on that one…

ParticipantOkay, but Tommy better have white hair (in the comics, Prometheus is one of many “anti-Batmen,” and his hair turned white, when his parents her killed by a cop).

KeymasterI’m really not so on board with the undead!Tommy theory. Yes, it makes a lot of sense with all the clues Phee laid out and such but…eh. Tommy’s death got so much mileage on the show; the characters mourned, grieved and even to this day, he’s remembered as a motivation for why they do what they do. His death had a lot of weight and while I know Flarrow Universe has a lot of magic that can undo death, I think it’s better if this one sticks. To undo Tommy’s death would be a disservice to all the importance his death has had on the show so far.

–Welcome to the CW, Kara!
–LOL at all the meta jokes about “this place is like the old one, maybe better.”
–So when they announced that Superman would be coming to the season premiere, I was really against it. One of the things that made S1 of Supergirl stand out was its decidedly feminist approach. The most important relationships were all female focused: Kara and Alex; Kara and Cat; Kara and her aunt and mother and arguably most important…Kara and Supergirl. To add Superman into the mix felt like a step back because when Kara’s much more famous male cousin shows up, the spotlight is going to go on him. Well, when I’m wrong, I say it. OMG can we keep him??? Kara and Clark were adorable. Like, beyond adorable. I love the way the actor played Clark as the charming, slightly oafish, neebish reporter whom Kara used to change diapers and babysit. She wasn’t in awe of her cousin and deferring to him, but he never doubted her or tried to take over her hero duties. He didn’t diminish her or steal her thunder. It worked so well. It’s such a nice change from the DC movie verse that is so heavy and dreary.
–Kolsen. This is my big complaint about this episode. Kara’s sudden 180 about James was clunky as all get out. Why did she suddenly change her mind after a year of wanting something more from James? Was it because she’s trying to figure herself out or because the TV execs want to go another direction? At any rate, I’m not too thrilled with this one aspect of the episode.
–If the first season was all about Supergirl trying to be the best superhero she could be, this episode suggests that it’s Kara’s turn. How does Kara be Supergirl without losing sight of Kara Danvers, young slightly socially awkward up and comer in a media? I like that the show is eager to develop that side of her as well.

The in-show reason is probably Pod Guy. As far as Kara knows, her only other same-species “opportunity” is her cousin, and even though the Kryptonian genome is probably free of human-style inbreeding disorders, she still remembers changing little Kal’s diapers. Besides, the way Kara smashes her alarm clock in the morning, it’s just safer for Jimmy this way.
