This is something I’ve suspected ever since “The Stable Boy” aired, and this past episode makes me suspect even more. Perhaps Cora already knew that Regina had a thing for Daniel. Why didn’t she try killing Daniel earlier if she knew prior to when Snow confessed? Because Cora wanted Snow to get the blame for what happened, and she wanted Snow’s family to suffer. She also could have deliberately asked Snow to go to the stables, therefore causing her to find out about Daniel to begin with. Regina wouldn’t have been bent on killing Snow had she still married her father and not had any reason to hate her. Cora needed that extra push to make Regina as ruthless as her. After all, Cora didn’t want Snow to ever become Queen, which she still could have been someday had Regina liked her. Cora intended to end Snow’s family legacy for good.
This would certainly be a game changer, because Regina’s entire purpose for hating Snow would therefore be moot. Currently, Regina is blinded by her misguided hate for Snow and fails to see that Cora is the true reason for her unhappiness.

March 4, 2013 at 11:39 am #176843PheeParticipantNothing happened on Cora’s property that Cora didn’t know about, of this I’m sure, because girlfriend is a control freak of the highest order. She totally knew all about Regina and Daniel the entire time they were together.

If she wanted to get rid of Daniel back then before Snow came into the picture, she would have done it already but if she had, Regina’s vendetta wouldn’t be against Snow, it would be against her mother.

Regina watched her mother rip her love’s heart out and crush it, but she still felt love for her mother after that! In fact, I think the whole “betrayal of the secret” thing was just sort of a trumped up reason for Regina to transfer her rage at her mother to someone else. So to find out that Cora knew all along and in fact Snow wasn’t telling Cora anything Cora didn’t already know, well, I don’t see Regina suddenly thinking “Oh….I guess I didn’t have a reason to be angry at Snow!”. Snow has a kind of goodness and happiness that Regina will never have (unless a lot changes!) and so Regina will still be resentful and hate her.

March 5, 2013 at 12:06 am #177149swanning-offParticipantIt also reiterates that Regina is blind to her mother’s manipulations – she rationally knows Cora is a puppet master but she can’t emotionally bring herself to process what this means for her life and losses.

Cora was waiting for Snow to burst out in confession, and was using the “losing your mother” tactic to make her do so. Cora was using Snow as a scapegoat.

I agree, and that’s why I don’t think the game would change for Regina if she found out Cora ‘s manipulation was greater than she previously thought. Snow’s betrayal was always a petty reason for Regina to have the degree of hatred she has for Snow, let alone the degree of anger she has to everyone and everything besides Henry.
