maybe she didn’t think it was necessary because David had made peace with his father’s demise
Well this I think is more dependent on how his death happened. If Hook killed him for example, I think that would have come up at some point. I am really going to guess his dad faked his own death and escaped to the untold story land to get away from something. And EQ knows what it is.
That’s a good point because I was expecting the EQ to say “did you ever wonder if he’s really dead!” which would be in line with what so many of us were speculating over the summer, but that’s not what she said. She made it sound like Charming’s father is in fact dead (as dead as one can be on this show) but that the manner of his death is in question, not the actual reality of his death.

But if EQ is planning to burn SB to the ground, then Rumple won’t have to worry about Charming coming after him.
Whether or not he’s actually the one who did the killing, I’ve no doubt that Rumple is the one who arranged for Charming’s father to end up dead. Like he said to the Count, he needs Snow and Charming alive and together and procreating. So looking back, Rumple needed Charming’s father to die, so that when the family farm went downhill, the only person there with any way to save it would be Charming making the deal with Rumple to go be a replacement Prince and end up meeting Snow. Who knows how successful that farm could have been if there had been two able bodied men on hand to work it, so dad had to die.

Yup. This felt like a giant flag to the audience that Rumple is behind Charming’s father for the reasons you stated.

But I’m going to continue with the theory that it’s Rumple behind the cloak in Emma’s dream so this season they are slowly going to make Rumple into the really evil person they love to make him out to be so they can then kill him. It starts with finding out it was him who actually murdered David’s father.

I can see that. I think when the show writes Rumple the best is when he sets things in motion, and leaves people enough rope to hang themselves from, so to speak. This is what makes him such an interesting and complicated villain — unlike the EQ, Rumple at his best/worst doesn’t go for the blunt instrument approach. Similarly, he is at his most boring when they try to make him evil for power’s sake. It doesn’t jive with the initial concept of the character.
If I were writing the show, and decided to put Rumple back at the center of the different intrigues, as they’re doing now, I would play with the theme of abandoning children. That is much more in tune with the questions that drive his character. So I would have him set things up so that daddy Charming decides to abandon his two boys and skip town. So he could be blamed for it, but there would always be the technicality that he didn’t force anyone to pull the trigger, as it were. Just my 2c.

Of course if this was true , can be said EQ made him do it, or he was killed by accident, and all will over in the end of the episode. And have to say that before someone says I’m being anti hook, I’m saying hook, bc that is the only secret I can see haunt hook, that can make him scared of everyone finding out and look at him different way.
