I would like to start a thread discussing ouat. I love discussing great stories. I still have deep discussions about Harry Potter sometimes, even though the story has already been told.

ouat was the most amazing TV show I have ever watched. it was truly a legendary saga on a grandiose scale: it had a good beginning, a great middle and a powerfully epic ending. I am talking, of course about the first two-and-a-half seasons, at which the end of that magnificent story is Mr. Gold’s death.
I am not planning on watching any more of the show, because it was a great story, and I don’t feel the need for more sequels to this well-rounded, organic tale. I guess it’s like when you read a really good book and you later find out that there are sequels to it. You’d want to read it if it continues the story, but if it goes back and ruins it, you will not be interested to read the next book.

for me, as Belle falls to her knees, and Emma, Regina and Henry look on in shock, and Baelfire says “he saved us” big letters start going up the TV screen saying “The End.”

now, let’s discuss THAT story. we can discuss it in terms of society, philosophy, psychology or literature. we can discuss the characters and what each of them learned throughout this story or we can discuss the situations that each character was in. we can talk about how each character changed and developed, and where each character started out and ended up. we can wonder about how fairytale characters’ lives were different living in the “real world” and how Emma’s “real world” expertise fit into the story as a whole. we can discuss why Emma was the savior, and how Henry was more than what he appeared to be – to Regina, to Rumple, to Bae and Emma.

so to those who stopped watching ouat and still LOVE the story as it happened until Mr. Gold’s death (which was never really believed because everyone expected a continuation) now that this IS the ending, we can discuss why this is a powerful way to end such a story.
