Somebody who knows Fantaghiro, yay! Did you see all 4 parts ( I think there is a 5th as well, but that is suposedly dreadful) I was TOTALLY in love with Tarabas at the time, who is in part 3 & 4 as the bad guy. Yeah yeah, I know… I love (redeemable) bad guys. No surprise there. And guys in frilly satin shirts. I blame it all on Jareth and Tarabas.
Go Rumpel! 😆 😆 😆

And now start to remember such details like the talking Come-Back-Again-Stone or the siblings Bolt and Lightning or the Dark Witch having problems to cast evil spells no matter how hard she tries just because she did something good once, helping Fantaghiro (hilarious idea). Will go and see if I can find it somewhere to watch it again.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

There are some funny paralels between Fantaghiro and OuaT
Just look at Brigitte Nielsen as Evil Queen. I mean, hello sister of Regina
Think the writers watched? Well, the acting of OuaT is a lot better. Though the overacting in Fanthaghiro was such FUN.
My favourite bit would be in movie 4 though… Tarabas coming out of the water
Yes I am as shallow as the pool he swam in 😆 😆 😆February 24, 2013 at 10:25 pm #175331andreth starkParticipantmmm, let’s see…
1.- Labyrinth
2.- The colour of magic -Terry Pratchett again ^^
3.- The magical legend of Leprechauns
4.- The 10th kingdom
5.- Merlin -1998’s
6.- The mists of Avalon -not exactly a pure “fantasy”, but still…
7.- The Crow
8.- Hook -1991 Spilberg’s.
9.- The Neverending story
10.- Edward Scissorhands
…
11.- Ladyhawke
12.-Willow.And, I think there are 2 kinds of films that required some attention: they are some interesting italian ones, i saw as a child, like “the prince and the beggar”, “Sorellina”, “Desideria and the dragon’s ring”or “Snow Queen”. And also some “classics” as Shakespearians like “The Tempest” or “A midsummer night dream”.

I’d never really been into vampire stuff before, but that show sucked me in and only ended up lasting 16 episodes. So much potential for the epic romance of MickBeth…the vampire who loved the mortal woman who he’d saved as a girl from his bloodthirsty then-wife. Just watching this clip on youtube makes me wanna go and dig out my DVDs for a Moonlight marathon…

March 13, 2013 at 3:39 am #179556arkham258ParticipantHmmm, I feel a little dumb now as I made a somewhat similar topic without knowing about this one LOL. Well one thing I love that has a lot of similarities to OUAT is the comic book series Fables. It has kind of the same basic premise as OUAT, but handled in different ways. I could say the same about Disney’s Enchanted, which will be in my list. I could never limit myself to just 10, unless I do a separate 10 for movies and TV shows. Even doing that, I know I’ll be leaving out a lot of stuff I love. Oh well, here goes…
1. Angel
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Angel and Buffy are in my top spots for a reason, but the rest of these are in no particular order.
3. Supernatural
4. Game of Thrones
5. Pushing Daisies
6. Highlander
7. Disney’s Gargoyles – Lot of flashbacks to medieval times on this show and the show also drew many elements from Arthurian legends, Norse mythology, and even magical characters from Shakespeare like Puck, the witches from Macbeth, etc. This show was amazing.
8. Justice League Unlimited – I’m including this because the DC universe is home to many fantasy elements like Greek mythology, magic, and Arthurian mythology. Even nature itself is alive and mystical in the DC universe with ancient beings representing animals, plants, and decay as the three elements of life on our planet. I’m also a bit of a DC fanboy, especially when it comes to Batman
9. Avatar: The Last Airbender – I just started watching this recently and really enjoy it. I’m about four episodes in so far
10. Hercules/Xena – Personally, I don’t think these shows have stood the test of time, but I used to be a huge fan (I was a bit of a Greek mythology nerd at the time). I was a HUGE Callisto fan. I guess I sort of like bad girls in my TV. I’m a big Faith fan from Buffy as well, and I love Regina from UOATNeed more attention:
Dead Like Me
WonderfallsMovies
1. The Princess Bride
2. Stardust
3. Disney’s Enchanted
4. Willow
5. The Lord of the Rings: Trilogy
6. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World – A magical fantasy world, filtered through the lens of video game culture
7. Cabin in the Woods – I swear, this movie’s entire premise would be right at home on Whedon’s Angel. For those of you who are fans of the show and have seen the movie, just think ofWolfram & Hart creating a facility like that, and imagine the ancient gods in Cabin in the Woods as being similar to a character like Illyria.
8. Army of Darkness (I love Evil Dead 2 as well, probably even more so, but it’s not as fantasy oriented)
9. Hellboy 2
10. Pirates of the CaribbeanNeeds more Attention: Hmmm, maybe….
The Crow
From Dusk til Dawn – For Vampire buffsThose lists leave off a ton of stuff that I love that I consider Sci Fi rather than fantasy. I think Star Wars is Sci Fi too, but that’s just my opinion. I also could do a top 10 list of just Disney shows and movies alone that I have enjoyed over the years. It’s hard to cram all the things I love into small lists
On a related note, some fantasy games I love
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Journey
Kingdom Hearts (for the Disney fan in all of us)
Okami
Brutal Legend
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King – PS2/Xbox
Final Fantasy 6
Buffy the Vampire Slayer – On the original Xbox
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
