I’m still trying to understand the love/hate Hook thing. My friend Laura, loves Hook because Colin is hook (which I totally acknowledge too, especially after writing Captain Swan fanfiction. He just gets hotter in my head).
But I mean, he is a Pirate and Pirate’s are often times, portrayed as the bad guy so to be surprised by the things that he does (working for Cora, then working against her). Again, I come back to the ‘He’s a Pirate argument.’ Pirate’s are flawed. They are not perfect people and I totally believe Hook when he said whoever gets him to Storybrooke, gains his loyalty. It’s not flip-flopping to me.
If Emma hadn’t betrayed him on the beanstalk, he probably would have stuck by her side, working against Cora.

About Aurora’s heart: Hook is a chess player. Remember; He gave her heart to Mulan, for it’s return to Aurora. He might be a bit devious, but he is strategic all the way.
That can change. Eventually, I want to see redemption from Hook.I’d also like to see the show do more with him. They think the women were mad when they killed of Graham? If Hook dies, I think a lot of people will be tired of letting a tv show drag their hearts in the dirt. I will be.
I am not sure I agree with where you are coming from (Hook fangirl) because if Hook is a chess player then how better his odds on Team!Emma (Emma, Snow etc) then to do something horrible (and it is horrible) like rip Aurora’s heart out but then offset that by returning Aurora’s heart to Mulan. That gives him at the least a couple of advantages. It causes Team!Emma to believe this working with Cora was due to the fact that he would use any means to get to Storybrook to exact his revenge (and he did say he preferred working with Emma–but I believe that anyone would be safer and wiser to work with) and he also has that moment of goodness
And if he is using ripping out Aurora’s heart out then returning it as a way of garnering favor to only throw Team!Emma under the bus if it proves advantageous to team up with Cora and whichever proves best to exact his revenge on Rumple.
It could be simple human nature wanting to want to keep one’s self in the winning position. However it seems that in Fairy Tale Land how it operates is whether or not one’s self-serving ways are for the good or the destruction of others (lives, the world as a whole) is what defines them as a villain or not. Take for instance Hook has killed many persons; however, Charming as well has been seen killing soldiers as well but it was seen for the greater good because it was in self-defense (self-serving wanting to preserve one’s life) and against a villain (King George).

Captain Hook’s intent for all these centuries has been to kill Rumpelstiltskin, and so far nothing has come close to making him want to stop. Even with his fondness for Emma, he still does not forget his plans. 🙂
He teamed up with Emma at first because she proved to be cunning, strong, and resourceful. But when she chained him up, she proved that not only did she not trust him, she refused to work with him. 🙂 Granted, she instructed the giant to let him go, but it would have prevented him from his revenge.
And then Cora claims that she will not take him with her to Storybrooke–she will deny him his chance for vengeance. This is something that he has been planning for too long to let go. 🙂 And so he does whatever he can do to get back onto his plans.
His actions are very similar to Rumpelstiltskin and Regina–though theirs are still much worse.

Oh my God ! Why are there so many different threads on Hook dying or leaving or going or…
I’m close too wishing he would leave. Go on a sail around the world. Then he can come back when everyone’s calmed down..December 8, 2012 at 1:40 am #164052midnight drearyParticipant@medchen wrote:

December 8, 2012 at 2:17 am #164056elleParticipantI’ve been wondering about the Captain Hook is dying threads. Where is the proof for this? 🙂
It is doubtful that they would kill him off so quickl–his character is important in the story, as well as the interactions he will have with the other characters. I’d like to see him meet Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, and Regina again. It would be interesting to see how Prince Charming takes to him, and I’d like to see a few more confrontation scenes with him and Emma. 🙂
His schemes to seem to be more successful. Though he doesn’t seem to deal in extreme dark arts–true he pulled Aurora’s heart, but that seems to be the strongest magical thing he has done. Other than that, he simply relied on his wits and skills with a sword and kissing and flirting up to people to get what he wants. 😀

Agree with all this!
December 8, 2012 at 8:02 pm #164088toothfairyParticipantI don’t know if people are being “obsessive” about Hook. I just think there are a lot out there who feel a little paranoid about loosing a character they like because of what happened to Graham. People don’t wanna get burned.
December 8, 2012 at 8:14 pm #164089elleParticipantBut there is a difference between The Huntsmand and Captain Hook, other than character wise. 🙂
The Huntsman, while awesome and undeserving to die, was not entirely central to the story. 🙂 Yes he has helped the Charming family, and he and Emma bonded, but his story has not been entirely connected with the other character’s.
He (as far as we have seen) had not branched out much with other characters.
Captain Hook has met the three (some of them formerly) villains on the show. He has goal and plan set. His story is merged with many–Cora’s story, Regina’s story, Rumpelstiltskin’s story, Belle’s story, and now with the Charming family. 🙂
