“In the story of Frankenstein, Dr Frankenstein leads a town lynch mob to go and destroy the monster he created. “
Okay…this is just me being picky but I need to clarify this: No where in the story, the novel, does Dr. Frankenstein lead a lynch mob to destroy the monster. In the traditional story, the monster himself goes around destroying the people in Frankenstein’s life in order to obtain revenge for having been abandoned during creation. Instead, Dr. Frankenstein doesn’t reveal to anyone, except Walter a man he meets while sailing, that he created this monster because he feels so guilty over the deaths and knows he would be blamed. This, of course, would explain why he would hide his identity: because he doesn’t want to be associated with his creation. BUT in my mind, a Dr. Frankenstein character would be much more recluse and antisocial…as he traditional is: not a womanizer. That’s not to say I wouldn’t find it interesting to have him in the show, I just think there are some issues with the theory….

I couldn’t really get behind the idea of Whale as Dr. Frankenstein. It just didn’t seem to fit in with the fairy tale theme. But then I was considering the Disney connection … and the movie called “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” In which there is a mad scienticist character called Dr. Finklestein.
The entry for the latter character in Wikipedia has the following line: “James Whale’s Frankenstein is quoted in Finklestein’s line ‘I made you with my own hands,’ which is ironic as Finklestein’s body appears to be largely if not entirely artificial.”
Huh. 😉

Of course, the mob scene is a reference to the classic film version of the story, not the novel and the coincidence of the director’s name being James Whale seems perfect. Did anybody else notice that the Season One OUAT DVD set has a bunch of ads which include an ad for the Disney Frankenstein parody entitled “Frankenweenie”? I think an ad for the film also aired during the airing of “Broken”.

There’s already a thread going titled: Who is Dr. Whale: New Points to Consider, where ALL of these points/clues have already been discussed.
The connection between Regina & Dr. Whale is simply that a younger Regina got Jefferson to bring Dr. Frankenstein into FTL to revive Daniel. Yes, Daniel is the monster. We see this 23 seconds into the recent promo clip.
Again, please check out the other thread. You’ll find lots of interesting facts there.

October 3, 2012 at 1:02 pm #155262bigredParticipantI really like the Dr. Whale = Dr. Frankenstein theory. The Untold Stories Facebook app provides a little tidbit that strongly supports this – the description of Dr. Whale as having “God-like tendencies”…Frankenstein created life were there was none – he was “playing God”. I like it! I totally see Whale as Frankenstein!

Try watching the movie instead of reading the book!

First off, are you a moderator or something, I couldn’t tell if you actually had authority or were just mini modding.
2nd can you show me this clip, I’d really like to see it, as far as I’m aware nothing is confirmed this is all just theory, but if I can see this clip maybe that can be another thing to add to the evidence.
EDIT: Just found the clip, you see Regina in her stable gear going down into a sort of dungeon, then there’s some flash, and then you see some guy standing over a body, if you go frame by frame you can see the guy standing over the body is clearly Dr Whale, and the hair of the guy matches Daniel, then to top it all of the, next literally less than a second clip is one of regina kissing daniel in that same stable (its an old clip) hinting further that Daniel is the monster.

Just curious as to what made you think of Dr. Whale saying “I’m a hell of a doctor” and how do you feel it relates to the Frankenstein theory?
A suggestion was put forth to you that you might want to check out the forum for existing threads containing the same subject line. Had you been interested in what others, here on this board, have to say on the subject, you would have found more information regarding this theory as well as the link to the promo in question.
