Hey, new member here, please be gentle. Anyway, two things.
1) As far as Dr. Whale’s womanizing not fitting Dr. Frankenstein, apparently Mary Shelley based the character off of her husband, who had an affair with her stepsister Claire.
2) As far as “not fitting the fairy tale theme” there’s actually a fairy tale called “The Three Army Surgeons”, wherein the title characters hack off various body parts so they can reattach them later with a special salve and prove what great doctors they are; things go terribly wrong, of course….
After all the evidence that’s been presented, if he isn’t Dr. Frankenstein, anyone else might be a bit of a letdown.

That fairy tale is called the Devil and His Grandmother.

October 14, 2012 at 1:23 am #156583@midgemarlyParticipantIn two other threads I posted the following:
I just found a link to an old tv series also called Once Upon a Time from 1973. Did not know that even existed. Episode 4 title is Frankenstein!!!!!
Here is the link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1379127/I didn’t get any feedback on it which was so disappointing because it takes a lot for me to weigh in on a subject. I posted it because so many are saying that Frankenstein does not fit in with fairytales but here is evidence that another show seemed to make the connection. Sadly, that was the last episode for that ‘series’… wonder if that bodes well for introducing Frankenstein into our beloved show??
October 14, 2012 at 2:40 am #156586charlie francisParticipantI’d be fine with them introducing Frankenstein to the show. The show was originally advertised as “every Fairy Tale character we know” but once it premiered they quickly changed it to “every Storybook character we know.”
October 14, 2012 at 4:29 am #156599gypsyParticipantActually, K&H have ALWAYS said it was about ‘stories’…from the begining. Just to add to the 3 paragraphs (including the 2×02 promo) worth of connections me and TheGoldenKey have looked into over the last 6wks, concerning the Whale/Dr Frankenstein theory….Adam and Eddie are self proclaimed ‘Dead Heads’…..the entire reason they inserted Geronimo Jackson (fictional band) into LOST ( switch the G in Geronimo and the J in Jackson= JG= Jerry Garcia). Emma had a Geronimo Jackson sticker on her VDub…and there was a Geronimo Jackson CD in Henry’s backpack when Emma dumped it during S1 finale while talking to Dr Whale- I am a Dead Head…have been for over 30 yrs. So, I should’ve made this connection earlier…anyway, one of my fave Dead songs is Ramble on Rose…..lines from that song: Just like Mary Shelley, Just like Frankenstein, clank your chains and count your change and try to walk the line…..another part: Just like NY City, Just like Jericho, pace the halls and climb the walls, and get out when they blow. The title – Ramble on Rose= Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty)…Frankenstein= well, a nod to the Frankenstein theory…NY City= clue to the NYC Guy in the beginning.
October 15, 2012 at 1:53 pm #156771kiwiParticipantSo I was watching the 3rd episode today, Lady of the Lake, and I noticed something.
When Henry snuck into the Heart Chamber below the Mills Family Crypt, I noticed the stairs that Henry went down looked almost identical to the stairs that appeared in the Once Upon A Time Season 2 Promo clip. In that clip Regina is seen descending some stairs also.
I think that it is the same stairs. I reckon that after Regina pushed her mother through the looking glass, she searched out her mothers Heart Chamber. As this is also the episode involving Doctor Whale, and one of the main theories is that he is Doctor Frankenstein, it seems likely that she sought out the heart chamber to find a replacement heart for her One True Love Daniel – whose heart had been crushed by Cora. Presumably she wanted Dr Frankenstein to reanimate her beloved. The episode for “The Doctor” also mentions Regina sees ghosts – I bet it will be Daniel as previously suggested. I’m thinking this will be the episode she begins to let him go emotionally – she needs to move on.

When we saw this promo clip (along with the other stills – with the tent, and what looks like someone standing over an operating table with a body on it, just conviced us even more). We thought the same thing, immediately – Daniel in Frankenstein’s creation! 🙂
October 18, 2012 at 1:55 pm #157120TheGoldenKeyParticipantKiwi, that makes a lot of sense. Great catch!
