We’ve only seen her set out to purposefully make some magic one time, and she was only playing along so the crazy guy would shut up. We haven’t had confirmation yet of what exactly she did to the hat, if anything, though it appears she did something.
She also did something to Graham when she kissed him, though she wasn’t setting out to consciously do anything magical in that case.
When she first set foot in Storybrooke, a powerline sparked.
When she decided to stay, time began to move.
When she put on the badge, the earth shook. So even though she’s not aware that she’s making things happen, she’s still making an impact. The majority of what she’s done so far is breaking magic, making cracks in the curse, as opposed to making magic. And August needs her to believe in order to break the curse’s hold on him. The hat is the exception, but like I said, we don’t even know for sure what happened with that yet.

Also, after Jiminy stood up to Regina, we heard crickets return to Storybrooke. Also, when Emma reunited Hansel and Gretel with their father, their compass started to work again. We saw Mary Margaret awaken David Nolan from his comma. When Emma wished upon a star on her 28th birthday, Henry showed up at her door. I’m not claiming that Emma directly used magic in these instances, but she certainly helped play an important role.

I am liable to agree with the strands of hairs of Snow and Charming too but and BUT all we saw was the botlled hairs that’s all. Then we see Emma meeting Gold at Granny’s and nothing else further. There was no mention of what Rumple intended to do with the hairs other than him sayong that bottling love was something that he was never able to do. He never said what he do if he ever did nor was there any kind of suggestion that there was, will or ever be at that point a connection to Emma. Until there is something more to that I am not going to agree with Emma’s magic Rumple’s doing. There is more to suggest Emma’s magical connection is the wardrobe, the book and her parents. Her parents are questionable because there is no proof they have magic.

It just so happened to be Snow and Charming who provided him with that vital ingredient, therefore it stands to reason that the child who was created as a result of that love would have particular significance to the curse.

I’ve wondered if that touch might have been his blessing–a tranference of magic to the baby. It would be a way for him to ensure a source of magic that he could tap into, in the new world.
May 12, 2012 at 2:21 pm #146419hjbauParticipantThat is an interesting thought darcy. I wonder how power is transferred. It seems like the magic that Rumpel, Maleficent, Cora, and Regina have are all similar. Then there are magics like fairy dust which seems to be different and there are curses and then things like Snow’s power to call blue birds. I wonder if we will ever learn more about the magic in this world.
May 13, 2012 at 12:10 pm #146495charmingParticipantThe question remains how do we know Charming and Snow do not have magic? Even though they never said they did, they never said they didn’t. For that matter every character they was never seen using magic can have magic because the prior will apply too.
