Frankenstein’s world must have been accessible through the hat, because Jefferson was the one who brought him to and from FTL. Horowitz has tweeted that his world DID have magic, it’s just that he didn’t know it.
Pretty sure K&H confirmed in an interview, or maybe it was their podcast, that the hat Emma made did NOT work. I suppose that doesn’t necessarily mean that it couldn’t be made to work, but as it stands right now, the hat Emma made does nothing, and who knows if it’ll ever be brought up again.

No room with doors to deal with first. Same when Regina sent hook. How would he know to go through the “looking glass” Unless maybe Regina was guiding them there through magic perhaps? But that would mean that Rumple could have used the hat to go to our world to find Bea by guiding the hat…I don’t know I’m confusing myself lol. I think I remember Jefferson saying that the hat only travels between magical worlds so that would make sense i guess.

Maybe without him a hat is just a portal from ‘a’ to ‘b’ but because he has this weird talent or something, he can actually summon all the doors and ‘browse’ them as he pleases? A hat could be just a physical item just to make his skills come to life.

When Regina snatched the cursed apple from the Enchanted Forest, the hat only worked, because she sacrificed some magical “trinkets” and the ring of Daniel, just enough magic to get the hat going, to reach to the other site (the Enchanted Forest) and grab something small from there. Jefferson needed the time and place and asked Regina to guide the hat with her thoughts. Think we can conclude, that it is possible to kinda skip the door level when you concentrate your thoughts.
When Hook went through: Regina might have told him to go through the Looking Glas. We only see her opening the portal using the hat, the rest isn’t shown. Next time we see Hook he is already in Wonderland.
The Wraith, Emma and Snow: Well, by then magic had come to Storybrooke and Emma probably sparked Regina’s magic enough to make the hat work, this time enough magic to transport people between the lands. Must have worked simliar to what Regina did when she snatched the cursed apple, she concentrated her thoughts to guide the hat to create a connection directly to the Enchanted Forest, so the door level was in this case again kinda skipped. Let’s say in more or less emergency situations the hat works a little differently.
Yup, bit of fanwanking here. 🙄
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

I tried looking for this and couldn’t find it 🙁
But they’re very tricky…. I have heard them say that the doors were modeled for specific worlds, so I’m sure the writers didn’t put in all that work for nothing 😉@EvilQueen wrote:

Yeah, I know that when Rumple was talking to the BF about getting Bae back, they mentioned realm hoppers or jumpers or something like that…. maybe these are people who are born with this skill set? Maybe they learn it, or acquire it through magic?

I’m wanting to say it was in their podcast, possibly at the end of an ep where they take questions from viewers. Not sure which ep it would have been in though, but will see if I can hunt it down.

True. But then, I’ve always been in the camp that didn’t think there was really any indication in the ep of the hat having worked, even though others thought there was, so having them confirm it just made sense to me.

oh! yeah, my point was not for the hat (I’m with you on that one) it was for the people saying that there is no portal in our world since there is no magic.

January 22, 2013 at 11:07 am #169582swanning-offParticipantSo… would the coffin-like door be the one to Frankenstein’s world? (catching up on threads). Green curtain is definitely Oz.
Did we see Mulan’s world in the episode with the Yawegui? That kinda stuffs the theory that the Asian-looking door is the one to Mulan’s world.
