I think they avoid using actual place names for a reason. Belle isn’t mentioned to be French. Lancelot said he comes from a Kingdom, didn’t say United Kingdom. Also you kind of argue against your own point.

if we ever see her backstory, her land will look very medieval China, but it won’t be CHINA

You’re right, so even though Frankie’s world looks like Tranyslyvania it’s not and I doubt it will ever be called that. If we ever see Lancelot’s kingdom they will probably throw in some dated British stereotype, like the accent that no one actually speaks in, or bad teeth etc, but it won’t be Britian and will never be called Britain. (Camelot maybe, but they won’t mention where it is)

Crest, I think you’re having a difficult time understanding the concept of a “fictional” Transylvania, vs the a real Transylvania. They can call Victor’s world “Schnitzel World” for all I care. The point is, it will be reflective of what we, movie viewers, have come to think of Transylvania being. That is a world full of gothic horror stories.

Using real characters or real places HAS already been done, As per Jane Espenson: “Alice in Wonderland is based on a very real Alice Lydell (we’ve seen Wonderland) & Hook is based on real legends of real pirates.” Besides, Adam Horowitz has said, in reply to someone stating that a character was real, that it doesn’t matter who we think they base a character on. Work is fictional. This is their show, their rules and they can write what they want. If they want to write a “fictional” world called Transylvania, then they will do it.

You agreed with me for most of that post

    Is exactly what I said

so even though Frankie’s world looks like Tranyslyvania it’s not

The only part I disagree with you on is the name. They won’t call it Transylvania as they have avoided real place names so far. Mulan hasn’t said she’s Chinese or from China, Lancelot didn’t say he was British or from anywhere on Britain.

I personally think it’s a world full of Horror stories, similar to how the Enchanted Forrest is a land full of Fairytales. Horror Land may be what you and I perceive Transylvania to be, but it will never actually be called Transylvania, firstly because it mind offend people living in Transylvania.

Any story teller has the right to name any land anything they wish, but what they have done so far is go to great lengths to explicitly not mention real place names in Fairytaleland/Horrorland etc.

Okay!! So “land without color”, since this land is the home of Frankie, and probably Dracula and other horror characters, when the curse hit, would they are all transported to SB? Will we see Dracula’s counterpart in SB? Will him suck blood since magic is back? Is he afraid of Rumple or the opposite? Things in SB is getting messier day by day.

I don’t think we would see any of the others in SB. I think Whale was brought over specifically because he had a connection, and Regina wrote particular people into the curse to take with her. For example she takes Jefferson from Wonderland, but she doesn’t take the others from there because she doesn’t want them/know them (not taking Cora, for instance) Whale was someone she knew and either a) had a purpose for or b) She knew what he did to her, and wanted to punish him.

^agreed. Plus, I don’t know if I want to see the others. Like I said, I think the idea of Dracula here is jumping the shark and I would be rather disappointed in the writers. If we do see more of Whale’s backstory (his brother for instance) then it needs to be just that story, and not delving into the other fictional characters in this “Horror World” Though, I’d really like to know what Frankie calls his world…

I saw an awesome theory on tumblr that Dr. Frankenstein is actually from our world but doesn’t know that he is.

Do you have a link to this obisgirl? I’d love to read it.

However, I don’t believe that as we know that he came via Jefferson’s hat which only ported magical worlds. Our world had no magic, Victor’s obviously did. Here are two tweets from Adam Horowitz confirming this:

@justdreamin91 our world = no magic til now. Victors world = magic whether he knew it or not

Yep, unfortunately he is definitely not from our world. Thankfully David Anders is.
