Dr.Knowall / Dr.Whale

I kind of got the feeling that maybe Dr. Whale had figured out what was going on in SB in general but didn’t actually remember anything. And feeding into the stereotypical doctor persona he maybe assumed he was this important person in FTL since he ended up being a doctor in SB. But then when the curse broke and he remembered who he was, he looked bummed because maybe he realized he was either some lowlife in FTL or kind of a not so important character (kind of like a side-kick). So he recognized that now people are going to realize he’s not really this big important doctor and they are going to know that he’s either a creep or a nobody. Kind of like he just lost his social status in his mind and in everyone else’s.

My issues with Doctor Whale is his name. It’s so specific. We know they like to play on the characters names and who they were in FTL (Red/Ruby works in a diner taking food to people). His last name being “Whale” is just so odd that I keep thinking it has to have something to do with his persona in FTL. And no one seems to know his first name, even MM who had that “fling” with him.

When Red was waiting for the bus to go to Boston after quitting Granny’s Dr. Whale was talking to her in a lurking manner.

Another character I’ve come across that fits the personality traits of Dr. Whale is Peer Gynt. I’ve read the original Per Gynt fairy tale and quite a few summaries on the play. The character fits – selfish, egotistical, daydreamer. It would be cool if Dr. Whale was Peer Gynt. This is the play that originated the song “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, it has plenty of characters to use in a backstory, and a very interesting main character.
