So obviously Dr. Whale is from a different land? The comment to Charming that you are not my prince, and charming’s question of “who are you?” puts before us the idea that Dr. Whale isn’t from around here. So, how did he get caught by Regina’s curse? What land is he from?
So far the theories rotate around Peter Pan, Dr. Frankenstein, Hercules, Jafar, have even heard Gulliver from Gulliver’s travels… any more?

Here’s a thought: Whale says to Charming “you’re not my prince” but could Whale be a prince in his own right? I have absolutely no idea what prince he could be, but he could possibly be a ruler himself and he’s not about to be commanded by someone else. Just a random thought, and most likely not gonna happen 😆

I think he said that as a way of saying “You’re not the boss of me.”

When Emma, Henry, and the rest of their group were standing in the streets right before Archie ran up to warn them Dr. Whale had worked up the town to kill Regina, did anyone notice that when the mob ran through Dr. Whale actually WAS leading them? Something about the way he was walking was just hilarious to me. Rewatch it, it is extreeeemely funny background action.

OK, so let’s add Wizard of Oz and Captain Hook to the list
Have also seen King Triton and Merlin as possibilities.

Also, he could have been ‘magicked’ into a non-humanoid similar to Crickett. I wouldn’t be happy with that explanation, though. I’m pretty sure that if he were seen around the area,as a humanoid, people would have somewhat recognised him.

Jefferson, maybe, is not the only one with an enchanted/curse/whatever type object allowing him such travels. Maybe Dr. Whale was simply visiting (or working) in FTL when the curse hit. I think someone, somewhere said that the curse hit more then jus FTL (or something among those lines).

Quick to revenge, self centered, womanizer, leader. Lets not forget he was working for Regina as well so he might either be evil or just self-serving. I like the idea of him being a God or Demi-God. I also like that he’s purposely hiding his identity but why? He wants them to underestimate what he can do perhaps?
October 2, 2012 at 12:57 am #154997jonathanmorganParticipantI like the idea of King triton the best right now since we’ve heard rumors of a little mermaid story, and his name is whale.
I think the possibility of him making a deal with Regina-ursula, or gold could come into play regaurding a certain mermaid but i definitely feel like he has some power issues and something was taken from him. King triton was know for that
my only draw back is that he’s such a womanizer… I don’t know about him being a father figure, but I like the idea cause that would make things intersting in the mermaid household. also he didn’t really sound like the ruler of the sea when he was revealed other than instigating a mob on regina. It was very Gaston like ( We’ve already seen him)
I’m mixed on my theory, maybe he’s a lost boy, with mommy issues. but Triton is my favorite guess….please thoguth please make the mermaids better than the fairies! 😀
