Dr. Whale could really be ANYBODY, and there are so many theories.
So, I’m making this forum in honor of Jenny.

Since the curse flips everything, He is cursed to be eternally ‘chasing’ in a metaphorical sense, so he constantly tries (and fails) to ‘catch’ himself a date. His pride and arrogant personality (you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!) remain.
