Jefferson, August, Neal, or Graham. The way Jen words it sounds like the person is gonna be someone close to her character. So I think it has to be one of them. Of the three Neal has the biggest chance. But I am still skeptical.
I think we can knock Jefferson and Graham out for the same reason: too big and too busy stars. I don’t know that August is such a big deal–he was in last season after all.
What if we are overthinking this and it’s not the return of former actor who was on the show, but an older character we haven’t seen in present day in a while, IE the evil queen?
That’s possible though Lana did say, when asked at a convention, that Regina wouldn’t go evil again IF (if if if if) she lost Robin because now she has family.

I agree with this, if we read the words of A&E they say the return of a old character, they dont say is anyone big or important and also JMo words i think is more about the new characters, because she says she can`t talk about the return, her excitment is probably PR mix with the talk of the brothers that we know now, may not be brothers but be Jekyll and Hyde, so i dont see her words be related to this return. If this was the last episode of the show, then yeah, i could see a flashback or dream with Neal, but nope, im not getting neal vibes, especially bc of the use of the word RETURN, that to me indicates that is someone that has more than one scene, and who knows may stay during the episode or several epis in s6, again not meaning regular, so Neal is totally out of my mind and away from my vibes.
Maybe they mean characters like Tink, or Merida or even Violet.

Not definitive. If it’s Neal then it seems morel likely he’ll show up at some point in 522 (Only You). If it’s someone like Tink, August, Jefferson, Graham, Dr Whale then it just depends on what their role is but those characters aren’t weighty enough for it to be “final scene” sort of revelation. If it’s a former villain like Peter Pan, then I’d say he would show up at the end of the episode for shock value.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 30, 2016 at 12:10 pm #322374SlurpeezParticipantCharacters like Tink, Dr. Whale, August or even Graham don’t really carry much gravitas to the current story anymore. We’ve already seen Peter Pan this season, so I don’t think he’s the one. Even though Emma and Neal already shared a scene in 5×12, we know Neal has a connection to the current story in the form of his family. Emma stated in 5×5 that Neal clearly loved the song called “Only You” and that it worked on her; given what we know about his apartment being in that episode, it makes sense that Henry might find a mixtape with that song on it. Neal and Henry sharing a scene like that would actually be a really good thing in my estimation because Henry never got to say a proper final farewell to his father. While it would be heart-wrenching to watch, I’d actually enjoy a scene like that with the two of them. I’d be more disappointed if Henry and Neal never got to have any real closure.

I think there’s an advantage to using characters such as those: they don’t come with plot baggage. At this point, if Neal appears and doesn’t deal with all of the family issues that the audience has already written in their minds extensively, half of the audience will be frustrated — and if he does deal with all of that, the rest of the audience will be frustrated. There’s no surprise left with that character.
Fresh stories aren’t the safe route; they might fail completely, but they at least don’t have it built in.

Half? I’m not sure where that number comes from, but even so, nearly every character has “baggage” on this show. I don’t think it matters to the writers if certain people will be frustrated. The title is a big hint: “Only You” is a song heavily associated with Neal/Emma and now their son Henry/Violet.

Imprecise conversational use, not scientific. Like “theory”.
but even so, nearly every character has “baggage” on this show.
Neal is a victim of his own success: he isn’t Neal anymore, just the working end of a mostly-finished knitting project. There’s no more new possible for him.
To go with the baggage analogy, he doesn’t just have carry-on like some old characters, he has to pay extra to ship everything.

Oh, I’m not disputing the song title hint.

Actually, if is Neal, which i dont believe at all, i would say 523 not 522, after 315, neal only appeared on episodes that A&E wrote, he may be mentioned in other writers episodes, but only appears on A&E epis, so if ends being Neal, would fit that A&E wrote a scene to be insert on 523, that was filmed in January, so if is Neal, he will appear on 523 and not 522. Only you would lead to one apperance on 523, which for me, would still be a bad use of word return, bc for me one scene means apperance and not return, but whatever.
April 30, 2016 at 7:40 pm #322389TheWatcherParticipant….what if Neal comes back to life. But then, like, leaves SB. And we never see him because he s off in NYC living his life. Rump could say his final good byes. Henry will alwaysvhave the option of “going to see Neal” if ever the actor can’t film for some reason. I think it could work.
