Yeah, off putting if it was a modern timeframe. The EF seems to be following Medieval times in other aspects, so, why not in regards to relationships.

Because this mostly a family show we aren’t going back to the Bible days etc that were over several years old. Plus it just plain sick for now day times.

Right. I agree. The EF does follow a medieval sort of frame, but the viewers are modern day people who are going to raise a few eyebrows, especially if they don’t know what levirate marriage is.

I think there is a difference in meaning between “incestuous” and “incest” though.   One is actual blood relationship and the other all too often happens in melodramas where there’s a main cast and a lot of rotating relationships between them all (the love Rhombus effect).     It is a way of describing intersecting relationships I guess amongst a group of already close people.    It can happen in real life too as someone mentioned historical practices, but with modern life and divorces and such, one might have some pretty odd family relationships.

Shania Twain’s Story   I don’t know if they’d had kids though in either of those relationships but yeah.   Things happen.

That’s why I, personally, find it a bit less “ick” than Emma and Hook, because Emma is from Modern times….well, so to speak.

I agree. Emma operates by modern standards having grown up in present-day Boston. I think when Emma finds out that Hook had a  romantic relationship with Bae’s mother, it might raise a serious red flag for her. At least, it ought to in my opinion. As for Regina being married to Leopold, who may or may not have fathered a child with Cora, I think it’s still an “ick-factor” for me because as a modern-viewer, I can’t help but raise an eyebrow.  However, I still sort of doubt that Leo fathered Zelena with Cora, because Leo showed no indication of recognizing Cora in “The Stable Boy” when he came to propose to Regina. But I’ll admit, I could see Cora doing something so twisted to her daughter as to accept Leo’s proposal on her daughter’s behalf, while Cora and Leo kept their illegitimate daughter, Zelena, and their affair secret.

    that’s a really good point.

Incestuous here just refer to how Eva–Leo–Cora–Henry Sr, ect are all interconnected and maybe have a lot of history.

    True, RG.

But, I had this same discussion on another fan site a few days ago and some of the ppl who are pushing for CaptainSwan are the same ppl who think Cora and Leo being former lovers is gross.

I guess i just don’t get that way of thinking :/

How can one be gross without the other??

    Ah well….to each his/her own 🙂
