Here’s a tweet from an interview Emilie just gave from Comic Con.
I. KNEW. IT. I had a feeling she would be a tad bit darker in season 2. I just hope the writers handle it well. But no worries. They’ve been doing a great job so far. ๐

July 14, 2012 at 11:21 pm #151873Daniel J. LewisKeymasterWhoa. It looks all those predictions over in the Belle thread about her being a darker character turned out be correct! This is going to be amazing. Bring on the Dark Princess! ๐
July 14, 2012 at 11:27 pm #151875thedarkoneParticipantWait, did someone just say “Darker Belle?” COUNT. ME. IN. ๐ ๐ ๐
I knew she would be darker. KNEW. How could she not be? She’s experienced far too much trauma in her life to still be the same sweet princess that we saw back in Fairytale land.
I’m also pretty pumped about all the great directions her character development could go in. I knew the writers were going to do something awesome with her character. I never lost faith. ๐

I highly doubt the writers will make her 100% evil, but they will definitely create some darkness in her. Primarily in regards to her feelings towards Regina. *Nervous Squeals* It will definitely be interesting to watch. ๐

Ok, Belle just got mroe awesome! I can’t wait to see how the writers approach the Dark Princess angle. ๐
I also found this. It’s Emilie’s thoughts on her relationship with Rumpel in season 2. Appearantly, there won’t be nearly as much angst or strife as most of us would have thought. It seems like Belle and Rumpel will be on the same page in season 2.
Emilie: โBelle will likely not try to change Rumple, but bring out the lightness in him – the part only she seems to know exists within him. She is in love with him for his tortured soul and what she sees inside him. She will be perhaps less predicatable and a little darker: the effect of living with the darker character that is Rumple.โ
July 16, 2012 at 10:40 am #152072an empty heartParticipant^Hmmm…it sounds like she won’t be as angry at Rumpel as we thought. I wonder how far the writers will take it? I doubt the writers will make her totally evil. That wouldn’t make any sense. But I can defintiely see her seething with anger over what Regina did to her.
But what’s most interesting about these two quotes is that it sounds like Belle will be in, at the very least, partial agreeance with Rumpel’s plans in season 2. Which leads me to think that maybe Rumpel’s plans aren’t actually as bad as the season finale cliffhanger lead us to think. Maybe Rumpel tells the Belle the truth about why he brought magic into the world.
Either way, their relationship is definitely going to be interesting to watch develop. I already know it’ll be the highlight of season 2 for me.
July 16, 2012 at 11:46 am #152075eternalflameParticipantI’m all for a slightly darker Belle. I just hope the writers don’t go too far with it.
And I love what Emilie said about the future of Belle and Rumpel’s relationship in season 2. ๐

I agree. It sounds like Belle won’t be as anti-magic as she was back in Fairytale land. I think Rumpel finally telling her that reason why did all of this was because he’s looking for his son will turn her around. In “Skin Deep,” she kept trying to get Rumpel to talk about his son, but he kept refusing. Maybe he finally tells her about Bae in the premiere.
