I suppose we all have our favourites that make the show for us 😉 Each to their own, however Charming, Snow, Emma & Henry are the main characters with Regina & Rumple’s stories completely entwining with-in theirs which also makes them mains/leading characters- this has been said by H&E over & over again since the show began- even last week 😉 All the other characters are ONLY recurring/minor/guest roles as of this point in time. Yes they help move the story along but they are Not mains nor the focus of the show (yet).
I personally don’t have a problem with Red, Belle, Blue etc having stories or anything. I enjoy watching them & how they are connected with our 4 main FTL characters. I simply enjoy the core characters story more- esp my favs lol 😉On another note-
I just remembered something- in the 1st S2 promo- didn’t Hook bust into a display case of Gold’s to retrieve his hook???? Wouldn’t that indicate Hook will be in SB at some point? Maybe this is a sign that they will indeed find away back to SB via Hook & his ship 😉 with Cora in tow no doubt 🙄[adrotate group="5"]October 14, 2012 at 1:12 pm #156609hjbauParticipantI am fine with the differences in the show, Emma and Snow being in fairytale land, and the rest in the real world. I am not okay with them going episodes without showing the main characters. That is a problem for a show of disconnection and i think is not good for the show. I think about when fringe started splitting between episodes in the real reality and episodes in the alternate reality.
I hated that because from week to week you would learn nothing new from one plot or the other. That is what they are doing here and i think it is a terrible idea for the show. I think that it may be something that is just going to happen for 2 and 4 and then after that we will get Snow and Emma in most of the eps again because we know they are in 5, 6, and 7. So maybe people will forget that they made this mistake early on and the show will recover from it. We will see.

Yes, that’s what I think will happen! I think Hook (along with Cora, boo) will agree to take Emma and Snow White back to SB aboard his ship. I also think Hook is going to become one of Emma’s suitors this season. I just posted a long-ish theory in the thread for the 2×6 synopsis about how I think this could happen.

I think I like watching each episode having some depth to only parts of the story rather then have small snippets of stories that make it hard to connect them …. That is what makes me coming back to watching OUAT every week….
OUAT is teaching me patience……

Which has always been an issue with this show and the sort of disconnect in the storyline from episode to episode. They just do whatever a lot and this seems to be another one of those to me.

I agree that it does suck that Emma and Snow White won’t have that much screentime as before, but I am sure the episode will have a good deal of Prince Charming, Henry, and Red Riding Hood. 😀
Also, this show is very much driven by the characters–the characters are one of the most interesting parts of Once Upon A Time. So the writers have to give them all a moment to go through their own history and problems.

The audience needed to see her go on the journey of non-believer to believer. She was also a way to introduce the storybrooke counterparts to the audience.
Now that the audience knows who the characters are and have grown attached to them, Emma is no longer required as an introduction device. In season 1, Mr Gold was introduced through Emma then Moe French was introduced through Mr Gold.

I think Jennifer Morrison tweeted that this episode has been her favorite so far. Which is odd considering she’s not even in this one. 😆 I think Jane Espenson called this episode her favorite as well. So, even though Emma will be MIA this episode, I don’t think it will take anything away from the story. Especially given the fact this episode is going to focus on a fan favorite. I’m ok with Emma and Snow being absent from an episode as long as they focus on another important character or a character that fans really like. So, if it focuses on Rumpel, Regina, Charming or Red, then I’ll be too content with the material to complain about Emma’s absence. But if it were to focus on someone smaller like Sydney or Archie, I think I’d feel a little let down. Not that they aren’t awesome characters as well, but they’re too far removed from the main plot to have an episode all to themselves without any Snow or Emma.

Agreed. The plot of the show changed drastically in the season 1 finale. With the evolution of the storyline – which weaves together the stories, both past and present, of several very significant characters – the way the story is told will also evolve. It’s unavoidable, and perfectly understandable IMO.

I actually liked it with Fringe. It helped that the characters and world in the alternate universe was so fleshed out. Plus, the alternate universe had Charlie Francis. 😀
