The fact that she is still a bail bondsperson means that her being an orphan is still something that weighs on her deeply. She is still trying to FIND people.

I ship SF and I feel bad!! Emma thinks her life is actually ok. She’s got her son, a good job, a good apartment. Maybe a few friends? She’s not a “friendless orphan” like she was in the pilot.

I wonder how she ended up in NY vs Boston where she was from. I have a feeling that part of her false memories is that she remeets Neal and maybe August and moves to NY from Boston so that Henry could be closer to his dad. But thanks to the new curse, Neal dissappeears along with August or he tells Emma that he’s “leaving town for a while” and she’s watching his place.
Neal could be in NY with Hook or they split up to look for Emma & Henry – Neal went to Tallahassee or Boston & Hook went to NY. We just haven’t any pics yet. I wonder if the magic globe is around….
Does Regina know what false memories she gives people or does Magic decide? Maybe she helps Hook and possible Neal figure out a place to start looking.

I assumed the false memories would start with Henry, that moment she gave him up–but we have no idea what else is changed or not.
Perhaps her false memory is that Neal sent her the 20k as he intended (but that August stole) so that’s how she managed with baby Henry years ago–or even that she wasn’t in jail (the second time did we see the handcuffs?), and the father was a fireman she met working at a diner as she had lied to Henry back in True North in season 1.
At some point, she will recover all her memories and these false ones will integrate in. I love the idea that her moments with Henry are really Regina’s memories with Henry reconfigured. I assume the magic just had a way of filling in the details that would be necessary for the desired effect to occur.

I think Hook’s been sent alone. If Emma’s old, pre-Henry memories of Neal are still the same, then she’d likely have a similar reaction to in Manhattan if Neal showed up on her doorstep in present day. Wouldn’t be conducive to getting through to her, having her listen to him, and making her believe. So Hook goes instead. They could use the crystal ball in Rumple’s castle to locate Emma, (now I have visions of anyone who needs a fix of Emma and/or Henry just picking up the crystal ball and gazing into it whenever, and it’s making me all sorts of emo), and when they discover she’s in NYC, they send Hook with Neal’s address so he can give it to her, so she can go there, see their dreamcatcher as seen in the promo, and know that Hook’s telling the truth about who he is. Then, assuming the potion bottle is a memory potion, Emma will then be willing to drink it, because she now knows that Hook isn’t just some raving lunatic.

Judging by what we saw with her gifting happy memories to Emma and Henry, I wanna say that Regina just had to think of the general situation she wanted for people, and the Curse would take care of the specifics. So with the original Curse, just her thinking, “I want everyone’s happiness destroyed, if they love someone, I want them torn apart,” and the Curse itself took care of the details of everyone’s actual lives. So I dunno that she’d know the specifics of Emma and Henry’s new life.

I think she no longer has her baby blanket or her swan pendant. I think her talisman is the dreamcatcher form the 3×12 promo.

I think she would. She kept it her whole life even when she gave up Henry. I can’t think of a reason for her not to have it now when she only thinks she didn’t give up Henry.

That’s true. Of the talisman’s in Emma’s life most of them are tied to our world: the car, the swan pendant, the dreamcatcher, Graham’s shoe laces.
But the baby blanket is a talisman that not only singles who she came from but where she came from. And since she remembers neither, it’s a very good candidate.
