Wow..sorry for the drabble I just needed to get this of my chest after an interesting discussion with my boss about all this mess.
I think I can pretend that’s what really happened. Thanks for the beautiful send-off we never got.
[adrotate group="5"]Because without Zelena, rumple would still be inside the vault , and neal would still wanted to go and bring his father back and would still try to find the key, we can say that without Zelena, they would have look for info about it and would know about life for life, but still adam and eddie can still say that neal would still go dark and would still open the vault and die, so no change in neal story, he would still be dead, although they wouldnt need the the name, but still.
That’s covered in my headcanon. Nyx gives them water from the Well of Wonders, (don’t know if you watched OUATinWL, but that’s where that comes from, and they’ve shown a Well of Wonders in FTL with Philora), to get Rumple out of the Vault instead, and there’s no need for the Key to be used, so no one has to die in order for Rumple to come back.
Considering how much it sucks and hurts that they killed him off, and in such an awful OOC for EVERY character horribly written episode, it cannot hurt anymore for me to have a little hope for the next month or so. As a fan I’m already disillusioned and dissapointed so all I really have left is hope.
Yep, that’s where I’m at to. Hope in crackpot headcanon is motivating me to keep watching for the rest of the season.
For me and I know a lot of other people that episode was so OOC for Emma (and everyone else but that’s another story). Since when does Emma have the confidence in her own magical abilities to separate two souls/beings whatever it was?! But she was like “yeah, okay I got this”. Um no!
Yeah that was strange for her to just do it. But I swear to God if I EVER see another CSer try to proclaim that Neal has no faith in Emma’s superpowers…
That many of you also know how i think and that is to let fan service work and confirm Cs until the end of the season as true love and for S4 show the relation development.
If the Sneak Peek is anything to go by, Emma still has no interest in being in a relationship with Hook. They would have to give her a rapid fire 180 degree turn around if they’re actually gonna put CS together by the end of the season, which is only 6 eps away, which will probably be about a week or so in SB time. I will concede that it’s likely fan pandering just to give CSers some more screen time shared between their couple, but I remain unconvinced that CS is actually going to become a romantic relationship. It would be OOC for Emma to suddenly want a relationship with him before season’s end. And I know they’ve been writing people OOC lately, but I’m basing this on a scene that’s from an upcoming episode, which proves that even with Neal gone, Emma still doesn’t wanna date Hook, in fact she’s still planning to leave town, (and it’s not like Hook knows how to use a cell phone or Skype, so I don’t imagine she’d anticipate keeping in close contact with him after she’s left SB), so judging by what we currently know, that’s the trajectory they’re writing for Emma’s character in regards to Hook. So I can’t buy into the idea that they killed off Neal to make way for CS to be endgame instead, which plays into why I can’t believe completely that Neal’s not coming back.

Okay, beyond being a giant ball of sadness, Quiet Minds was also like one giant here’s why i love Neal Cassidy manifesto for me, and this moment is really important to me and I need to talk about it.
Here’s what’s going on: Neal just showed up out of nowhere in the woods, collapsed on the floor of his father’s shop, can’t remember the past year or what he did, including an ominous scary mark on his hand and how he got it, and the father he just watched die is apparently alive and missing. So:
1. Neal’s first thought is immediately about the son he can’t remember fighting to get back to. Because the one constant about Neal Cassidy since the moment he found out he had a son is that Henry is the first thing, the most important thing. Because so much of this episode, about Neal’s entire arc since Manhattan, has been about his desire to be a better father to Henry than he ever had. And I have plethora of problems with how they chose to let that play out, but the important part to me? Neal loves Henry more than anything and Henry is always always always first.
2. He actively recognizes Henry and Emma had a whole life without him. He’s had, what, five minutes to process that a whole year passed? Emma and Henry have memories together that he’s not going to be a part of. They had a whole year of reality, and in that first gif—he’s letting it sink in that he missed another whole year of his son’s life— he’s probably taller now, more of a teenager, likes and dislikes a whole new set of things and Neal missed all of it— and I’m sure that absolutely wrecks him. He wants to see him. But he’s not going to push. He’s not going to force his way in as Henry’s father in whatever thing the two of them have going— he wants to be Henry’s father more than anything, but he knows it’s not just about him. He doesn’t get to slot himself him, but he wants more than anything to work to find his place there.
Neal hasn’t really had a family since he was 14 years old and it’s all he’s ever wanted. He’s capable of making really impulsive decisions when it comes to Emma and Henry. They make him beyond desperate. But there’s a line to that, and what’s so interesting to me is that line is only ever drawn by Henry and Emma’s best interest. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to get back to them, to be there when they need and want, but on their terms. Because his love for Henry and Emma is about Henry and Emma, not about how badly he needs them.
tl;dr neal cassidy, ultimate family man who never got a chance to be a family man my tears could fill oceans goodbYE.
You know what I’ll REALLY miss about Neal? How normal he was. How he reacted to the absurd crap that happens in this show like an actual human being would. He’s pretty much the only male character (besides, ironically enough, his memory wiped son) that did that.
That was one of the things I really loved about his relationship with Emma. They both were so of OUR world–they could bond over the fact that Hook could only get a pirate ship into New York if it was cloaked. That they both almost married villainous henchpeople. That magic is real and it sucks but it’s a part of our lives.

I stay away from the “shipping politics” as much as I can. I stay here in the comfort of my ship where it’s warm and cozy, if not a little depressing lately. However I did go over and read a little of the CS thread and it made me realize my hope that Neal is still alive or that his death can somehow be reversed (love your head cannon btw) is no more ridiculous that CSers thinking Emma is gonna declare her love for Hook in the next episode. It made me laugh and if they can have such high hopes, so can we!
The only way I will ever catch up on any new episodes (i haven’t watched any since quiet minds, and I want to unwatch that episode so badly) so the only way I would ever consider going back to this story is if they treat it like the tragedy it IS and not try to pretend that this story is about hope and happy endings.
If this is the direction that this story is taking, then the next step would be to force Gold to kill Henry in front of Regina, have snowing try to save Henry only to get themselves killed, have Regina kill herself (i would’t mind a heartbreaking scene of Emma crying over Regina) Zelena can force Gold to kill Belle as well
They can have gold lose more and more weight untill he looks like a skeleton, trying to starve himself to death. But the dark one can’t die, he will remain, forever a slave to darkness.This is the only end fitting to the ‘bold’ story they have decided to tell by killing the one character MOST deserving of a happy ever afer ending. A bold and tragic story.
Soooo, I started writing out the details of my end of season headcanon…and it sorta became a four page fanfic thing? I’m not a “writer” by any means, it’s rather pedestrian in style, but yeah, anyway, at least now if it doesn’t happen on the show, it still totally happened because I wrote it. 😛

The thing is i do see them making emma enough Oc to start something with Hook soon, no saying like 317, but after that, lets not forget 304 that she was crying about neal and then after on 305, that probaby on the same day was letting Regina take teens hearts and flirting with hook and finally kiss him.
Im some way all the media article, A/E interviews ( about emma and hook have a chance to talk about their feellings for each other, that is lame, bc emma and neal never had any to do that and had 2 minutes scenes to talk) and even Jen interviews, have been hitting that, like pretend that Hook was always there for her, never let her down, now is even involve in Henry life, and with Neal saying that she needs to move on, in the middle of the grief, she can say, well, there is a crazy witch, so why not to have fun with hook, and see where this going, if i had to bet i would say 318, since was back then that Jen and Colin gave some media interviews, and all writers back then said that they had more info about CS that would keep for later. I even see them bring neal as some sort of ghost to say goddbye to henry and give his blessing to hook and emma.
This show no longer follow a logic or is rational, so yeah, i see them making Emma and Hook a thing as soon as possible, and even with a TLK ( especially bc of some rumours/spoilers from crew about 320) and even using that to wake the memories, since Henry i believe by 320 already has his memories, bc he is with them at that creepy place with marks on the floor.
Sorry be so negative, but this show simply lost logic, rationality for me, in fact i think the more we think in worst things to happen, the more i feel that they will happen, I dont longer believe in the writers or have hope that good things happen, in fact i believe that all characters will be OC, and Neal will be forgotten by everyone, including Rumple and Henry( this if with this past thing they dont erase henry or make him be hook and emma son).

Marty, I know your upset about Neal but please don’t take it out on the other characters. It’s depressing to read how all the other characters should die horribly and not get their happy endings, just because Neal is dead. The show doesn’t revolve around Neal. Yes it was a shame Neal died and in the way he did, and it would be fair to say that nobody wanted Neal to die, because he did deserve his happy ending, but I disagree with saying that the show is no longer about hope and happy endings.
To me, SwanFire were a “real” fairytale. They weren’t about slaying dragons, recuing princesses, or going on quests. They were about 2 people in the real world, finding each other despite the odds and loving each other. They’ve had to go through crap, childhood abandonment, breaking up, separated parents to Henry. Whilst Snowing and RumBelle deal with the more fantastical issues, curses, witches, etc, SwanFire always dealt with the more “real world” issues.
Unfortunately, a real world issue is death of a loved one. How many children have to go through the death of their parent? How many parents have to go through the death of their child? How many people have to go through the death of their partner or death of their friend? If a family has a member in the armed forces, then that is a very real possibility for them. They may not see their loved one again.
To say that, just because of the death of that person, that family is destined to never ever feel happiness again and the rest of their lives they’re screwed to misery is an absolutely horrible and depressing message to give out.
Once is still about hope and happy endings, not in the idealized terms that everyone gets a happy ending, but in the real terms that despite all the tragedy and heartbreak that befalls these characters, they can still pull through, it does get better for them, they can move on without forgetting what they lost.
All magic comes with a price!
